Behavior doesn’t exist in a vacuum. The patterns we see in people, the emotional unavailability, the aggression, the manipulation all these didn’t just appear out of nowhere. At some point, they were survival. Psychology has taught me that trying to understand the “why” behind someone’s behavior isn’t about letting them off the hook, it’s about recognizing the human behind it. Compassion and boundaries are not opposites. You can hold space for someone’s story without letting it swallow yours. Maturity is realizing that villains are not born, they’re made.
