I have mentioned it before, but the way many people suddenly agree States should submit to papal moral judgements on matters such as war & peace, is a reminder of how modern Catholic Social Teaching is in many ways just a specific form of integralism.

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò has joined President Trump in slamming Pope Leo XIV. In a powerful new statement, Viganò told the Pope to “get his act together,” stop acting like a politician pandering to the radical left, and start acting like a real spiritual leader instead of constantly attacking Trump’s foreign policy. Viganò pointed out that many faithful Catholics are scandalized by Pope Leo’s weak, woke criticism of Trump’s decisive actions against the Iranian regime and his overall softness on global issues. This comes after Trump called out the Pope for being “weak on crime” and “terrible for foreign policy.” The message is clear: The Vatican needs strong leadership, not more political virtue-signaling.

@Matthew13_41 @LighttheFireIAu Orthodox, Miaphysites, Nestorian, Old Catholics and most schismatic groups have valid holy orders. The heresies of protestantism are uniquely damnable, since they invalidate the priesthood itself.

Opting out of voting is morally irresponsible for all Catholics. That's not my opinion, it's CCC 2240: "Submission to authority and co-responsibility for the common good make it morally obligatory to pay taxes, to exercise the right to vote, and to defend one's country."
Shannon 🍀@shannonsnotions

I am Catholic before I am American, and that’s why the Republican Party should be scared. My vote is going to absolutely no one unless amends is made and put into action, not just empty words. Cafeteria and Lapsed Catholics and Protestants are in for a surprise when we don’t vote at all or the way they want. They cannot win without us.

@Matthew13_41 @LighttheFireIAu Lutherans can claim it, yes, but it's the official and irreformable teaching of the Catholic Church that Lutherans (as all protestants) have lost their Apostolic Succesion when they adopted protestant theology. Any Catholic claiming otherwise is in dissent from the Church.

@wecek321 @LighttheFireIAu Lutherans literally can claim Apostolic Succession through a direct and unbroken priesthood. Once again, you'd know this if you ever looked at Lutheranism through more than your phone's screen.

@Matthew13_41 @LighttheFireIAu Lutherans (as all protestants) don’t have valid priests and thus don’t have a valid sacrament of reconciliation. They go all their lives never having their sins forgiven sacramentally. There is nothing more dangerous to one’s salvation.

@wecek321 @LighttheFireIAu You gotta get off tiktok man and ease up on the larp. Orthodox theology has some extremely problematic issues that for anyone who understands the faith, genuinely calls into question their salvation. Now obviously I pray we are all one in Christ, and thus leave it to His verdict

The papacy using the phrase “the common good” again ought to make your hair stand up. When you hear that phrase, wake up and pay attention. This is serious. For the common good does not sound ominous, but history shows that Rome has used that ideology in the past as a cover for control, to push order, compliance, and submission, under the disguise of morality and unity. Do not miss what is really going on. This is not about helping people or building a better society. This is about authority, and Rome has made it clear that Rome believes it has that right, and history shows that it has often put church authority above personal conscience and liberty. I wrote about this two years ago. Pope Pius IX religious liberty an “absurd and erroneous” idea and said it was “a most pestilential error,” something dangerous to the state (Pius IX, 1854). Pope Leo XIII said, “We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty,” and also called for “complete submission and obedience of will to the Church and to the Roman Pontiff, as to God Himself” (Leo XIII, 1890/1894). Pope Boniface VIII said, “We declare, we proclaim, we define that it is absolutely necessary for salvation that every human creature be subject to the Roman Pontiff” (Boniface VIII, 1302). Pope John Paul II tied true freedom to obedience to an absolute moral truth rooted in Scripture and church tradition, and warned that without shared moral authority, society falls into confusion (John Paul II, 1993, as summarized by TIME, n.d.). Bishop Ryan said Rome alone has the truth, and warned that if Roman Catholics ever became the clear majority, religious freedom in America would come to an end (Ryan, 1885). Now, we have this pope again talking about “the common good.” Do not think it is just talking about people being kind to one another. It is speaking from a long history of believing the church has the right to guide society, shape morality, and, when it sees fit, override whatever you have, including liberty of conscience. This goes far beyond open borders, taxes, money, or even your property being taken away “for the good of society.” At its core, this kind of thinking will lead to forcing people to go along with what the Catholic Church says is right, whether they agree or not. That should alarm every person reading this. These are not just old quotes collecting dust. They show a pattern. And that pattern is exactly why people need to be very careful when the papacy starts using soft sounding words like “the common good.”
Pope Leo XIV@Pontifex

Faith does not separate the spiritual from the social. It gives Christians the strength to interact with the world and to respond to the needs of others, especially the weakest. What is needed for the salvation of a community is a communal commitment, which integrates the spiritual and moral dimensions of the Gospel in the heart of local institutions and structures, making them instruments for the common good, not places of conflict, self-interest, or sterile struggles. #ApostolicJourney #Cameroon

@UcheMaryOkoli In some countries it’s still mandatory, the choice is up to their bishops. Here in Poland abstinence is mandatory for all Fridays throughout the year, which is sadly ignored by most people (it’s sad because it’s a mortal sin to deliberately disregard a mandatory fast).

Throwback to lenten Friday when we could not eat meat 😆. To be honest, I miss Lent really badly. But are there Catholics who still observe the tradition of not eating meat on Fridays?

The Supreme Court is still waiting to issue a ruling on Louisiana v Callais. It seems like we’ll get a ruling on this case in May. As Justice Alito has yet to write a majority opinion this term, the rumor is he might write an opinion on this case that would weaken or even strike down Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. If that were to happen, it would essentially mean that Democrats are no longer entitled to nearly a dozen free Congressional seats in Red states every two years. We need Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida to immediately redistrict and dismantle their DEI districts the moment SCOTUS permits them to.

@LemonySwirls @daily_romania An autocephalous church (Moscow) can’t bind other autocephalous churches in any way, so this is just Cyril’s interpretation of the deposit of faith (which he will use to justify trying to turn other autocephalous churches against Constantinople)

@daily_romania So then question. There are two main (large) groups of orthodox, right? Does this mean the other large group (forgot their name) doesn't have to listen to the russian orthodox church? Even though they are also orthodox?

@LemonySwirls @daily_romania From what I understand, there are three groups of Orthodox. Moscow and its puppets, Constantinople and its puppets and then everybody else (most of EOs) who seem to be kinda neutral (except for Alexandria, also conflicted with Moscow).
