@noisesharpen The fundamentals are timeless. It's much more difficult to understand the state of the art when one doesn't know the first-principles.

Every company will be recursively self-improving.
Y Combinator@ycombinator

In a recent batch talk, YC General Partner @t_blom broke down how to build a self-improving, AI-native company. He walks through how to create recursive, self-improving AI loops, and why founders who get this right will run companies that improve while they sleep. 00:00 — Companies Are Roman Legions 00:54 — Copilots Are the Wrong Mental Model 01:55 — Extract the Domain Knowledge 02:24 — The Recursive Self-Improving Loop 04:12 — The Holy Shit Moment at YC 05:50 — Self-Optimizing Product and Support Loops 06:29 — Burn Tokens, Not Headcount 07:23 — Middle Management Is Over 08:05 — Make Everything Legible to AI 09:40 — Regenerating the YC User Manual 11:19 — Software Is Ephemeral, Context Is Valuable 12:18 — Where Humans Still Matter

Today, I'm excited to share that I've started a company and closed an oversubscribed seed round.  Space has a labor shortage, and a growing surplus of science that we can’t afford not to do. Our astronauts’ time costs $130,000 an hour, and almost all of it goes to keeping them alive. The science happens in the margins. The bottleneck in orbit is not rockets, but labor. General Astronautics will build and scale orbital manufacturing factories, starting with industrial robotics. This is the unlock to new pharmaceuticals, new materials, and new planets. More on my thesis for humanity: generalastro.com If this excites you, we are hiring. Come find us: careers.generalastro.com

i get some anxiety not using the smartest-available model/settings. but sometimes i dont mind if it's really slow. i wonder if we should focus more on a price/speed tradeoff relative to a price/intelligence tradeoff.

YC has never cared about your age. Telling yourself you're too old for YC is the most expensive lie in startups. They care about your idea, your traction, and whether you can move fast. The "young founder" myth exists because the media covers Zuckerberg, not the 42-year-old who just built a $50M ARR company out of batch. Your Github and your growth curve don't have a birthday.
