relatedly: a few weeks ago i tweeted some thoughts on lore. the next day i received a DM from one of the coolest brands i could imagine asking if i could be their lore advisor previously, i did not know ‘lore advisor’ was a thing. i couldn’t imagine a more perfect dream collaboration. this only happened because i’d been publicly talking and thinking about lore and making it obvious that i cared about it people are often waiting for permission to become the thing they want to become. sometimes you can just start acting like that person first and let the world catch up 🪄

a secret life hack is that you can literally just say you are something, if you believe that’s who you’re meant to be for example, i decided to put ‘narrative operator’ a few weeks ago in my bio as i started doing work adjacent to it and had a hunch i’d be good at it. wtf is a narrative operator? who knows. but now people come to me for narrative work, and it turns out my instinct was right. i’ve been able to be useful in exactly the kind of work i imagined own your narrative a little before reality catches up. sometimes reality arranges itself accordingly

ways to start feeling again. - sit in the sun without anything to do. - walk around barefoot and try to feel the ground. - drive around aimlessly and blast some of your favorite songs. - eat a few meals without any distractions, notice every bite. - sit quietly for a while and notice the touch of breath in your nostrils. - look up at the stars and the moon, understand how small we all are and how immense the universe is.

how to increase your surface area for luck: > get off your phone > say yes to spontaneous plans even when you're tired - some of the best nights are unplanned > talk to strangers - at coffee shops, events, literally anywhere. serendipity maxx > smile at strangers when you walk outside > lean into the random things you feel a pull toward even if it doesn't initially "make sense" > make a bucket list and work your way through said bucket list!! > stop opting for boring hangs. switch things up with your friends. try something new!! > start a random hobby just for fun - pottery, dance, improv, cooking. anything that makes your soul come alive > stop walking around with headphones on everywhere you go > show up fully when you're with people. put your phone away. being present is the greatest gift your time to live life is happening NOW so stop saving it for later!! lets go PLAY!!!
blue@bluewmist

Going to leave you with this tonight: The best thing you can do for yourself is actively increase your surface area for luck to hit you. Go outside, travel more, go to new cates, museums, events, take a new route home, go for hikes, see cities, countrysides, take your notebook, speak to people, ask questions, start businesses - go on more side quests. You can literally just do things, and the more you do, the more serendipity and synchronicity will find you.

Placement Rules 🧵 Everything I wish someone had told me before placements. No motivation. No "grind harder." No generic LinkedIn advice. Just practical rules that can actually save you interviews, OAs, and months of trial and error. Bookmark this thread. I'll keep adding to it.

things to learn instead of doomscrolling: - critical thinking - research skills - learning how to learn - storytelling - budgeting - cooking healthy meals - an outdoor sport what else would you add to the list?

everyone keeps asking how i grew 1k followers in two weeks i'd grown 80k across other platforms before X and turns out there's a lot of overlap so i wrote the playbook into a skill with @claudeai and @WisprFlow

guys i've been away from x and ABSORBED in making music lately. it feels SO DAMN good. i forgot how good it feels to create, instead of consume. if you ever feel stuck, go make something. write. dance. sing. draw. life is way too short to not create things that are ours.

Let's host a holiday gathering :)
Adele Bloch@adele_bloch

my friend asked if i had any tips for hosting an easy holiday gathering (of course I do!!!) this is an underrated skill - knowing how to bring people together in a low-lift way tips: > common misconceptions: you don't need a million friends, a perfect place, or an overly complicated plan > hosting is as simple as bringing people together for a shared experience with good vibes > not enough people host gatherings anymore (we're in a loneliness crisis ya'll!!) - everyone will be SO grateful that you got them together. challenge yourself!! make it happen!! pick an experience: > casual event ideas: inviting friends out to dinner (your home OR restaurant), sunday morning coffee, picnic in a park, cozy movie night + hot chocolate > holiday season vibes: ugly sweater party, cookie decorating, gift exchange, friendsgiving, and MORE! > you don't need to go over the top for your first one. pick something that genuinely excites you invites: > make a list of everyone you'd love to connect with in your area. coworkers, gym buddies, neighbors, old friends, new friends, that person you met last week, that other person you always say "we should hang!" to > a good event has a balance of old friends + new faces > you don't need to fill all the seats yourself. give people a plus-one option - takes pressure off you AND them > invite the friends you're MOST confident will say yes FIRST and have them RSVP before sending it more broadly so that there is early signs of momentum on the event > send a personalized message to people about why you'd love to see them there - it will help increase RSVP rates!! leading up: > totally ok to have people bring something!! it makes it more fun to have their buy-in > don't worry so much - people will remember the vibe, not the details! they'll remember how you made them feel! > remember to have FUN!!! you're bringing your people together!! you're being a positive contributor to your community!!! you're the reason people will make new friends and have a fun time tonight!!! challenge yourself to host something this holiday season!! don't overcomplicate it - pick a date and send the invite!! people will be honored you invited them!!! you've got this!!!
