I'm having immune deficiency / CoV-AIDS fun today! I have a UTI with 2 multi-drug resistant strains of bacteria. I was prescribed bactrim for the first time. Always knew that was coming with my AIDS-like condition. I was also prescribed linezolid, which is from a class of antibiotics I've never tried. I'm kind of scared considering that I had neuropathy from levaquin, a fluoroquinolone, and one of the side effects of linezolid is neuropathy. We're using it to avoid fluoroquinolones, but it's not without risk. These bacteria are typically on skin flora, not infectious, but they make exceptions for immune compromised folks. They're also common hospital-acquired infections. With my frequent medical appointments and infusions, I could have easily picked something up. I am so over the lack of infection control at these places!

The best doctors, the old guard, who view medicine as a calling rather than a business, are quietly retiring. There's a gentleness & decency about them that's hard for me to explain but impossible to miss. Medicine is losing the best part of itself.

Social life is good for your mental health and well being, but intelligence indeed thrives in isolation. Why? Because in isolation you are more open to whatever information you apply yourself to. I know, because I played poker online for 14 years straight. That’s 14 years without colleagues, alone at the computer. That’s also how I became good in precious metals space. The last years of my poker career I got less and less games when I sat at the computer. I played heads up and was mostly sitting with 30 tables open on like 5-6 different sites waiting for opponents. Over time it came less and less, that meant that sometimes when I sat and waited for a game I had to apply my focus to something else until an opponent appeared. Those hours went into the precious metals world. A few hours a day for 1-2 years ended up being 12-14h a day when I decided to quit poker. 5-6 years of 12h+ a day, in isolation and here I am, TheApeOfGoldStreet
