@WRAP_NGO Perhaps if there was less demand for grapes, blueberries and avocados by supermarkets and retailers there'd be more water. Produce less and reduce demand due to over cautious best before and use by dates and the Ica valley would have more water.

The Peruvian grapes, avocados and blueberries in your fridge may grow in the Ica valley, but the water behind these harvests begins 80km upstream in the high Andes, where natural water sources feed one of the world’s most important fresh‑produce regions. But this water system is complex. Years of over-use, environmental decline and climate pressures are making it harder for the land to hold and release water. Restoration had to start on the high-Andean land. That’s why the Water Roadmap’s Collective Action Project in Ica started not with interventions, but with people. Our latest impact data and stories show what this collective action can achieve: bit.ly/4vdG67D 👉 If your business sources from the Ica region, now is the moment to join. In partnership with #SIFAV, @GoodStuffInt and #XynergICA . With thanks to our Collective Action Project funders for Ica and support from the Water Roadmap Retail Leadership Commitment. @AldiUK #AMFRESHGroup #Bakker @edeka_gmbh #Greenyard @coopuk @LidlGB @marksandspencer #NaturesPride @Ocado @Sainsburys #SaludFoodgroupEurope @Tesco @Waitrose

Eggs @tesco Eastbourne with BEST before of 1 April. Why are they reduced? If they don't sell do they end up in a bin? @WRAP_NGO @LFHW_UK you tell households not to throw away food. Hold Supermarkets to account as well. Why aren't they on the Eggs shelf?

@WRAP_NGO You preach to households yet @Tesco reduced this 4 months early. I doubt a family would throw away a bag of uneaten chocolates. THIS is a waste of precious natural resources. Shelves will be restocked & more surplus food will be reduced & thrown away

By the end of #FoodWasteActionWeek2026, an average household of four will have already thrown away £200 worth of food they could have eaten. Every year, 4.4 million tonnes of edible food is thrown away from UK homes, generating 16 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. The total cost of food waste is a staggering £17 billion per year which is £1,000 a year for an average household of four. On average, a person in the UK wastes food equivalent to 3 meals per week. What we waste as a nation per year would fill Wembley Stadiums 8 times over and the Royal Albert Hall 88 times. We're determined to change the perception that #FoodWaste is inevitable and help all of us embrace the many benefits of making the most of the food we buy. By using our precious resources more intelligently we can create a world with higher standards of living — tackling climate change, protecting nature, and reducing inequality. @LFHW_UK #FWAW #LFHW #CircularLiving #FoodWaste #HouseholdFoodWaste #FoodLossAndWaste #HFW #LocalAuthorities #Councils #GetInvolved #FoodWasteActionWeek

@WRAP_NGO It's not only households who waste. Skips full of edible food are thrown away by @LidlGB @waitrose @marksandspencer every day. Why don't you go after them? Someone called the Food Waste Inspector is filming & sharing video evidence on Instagram

What's for dinner tonight? For #FoodWasteActionWeek we've set a challenge for everyone - take food waste off the menu and enjoy the unexpected benefits of making the most of all the food you buy. UK shoppers spend £17 billion on food that is thrown away, which is an average of £1,000 a year for a household of four people. We're determined to change the perception that #FoodWaste is inevitable. On each day of Food Waste Action Week, Love Food Hate Waste are offering tips to make your food go further. From recipes for left over pasta, to portioning your food so every scrap gets eaten. By preventing food waste, using up leftovers, and recycling anything that can’t be eaten, we can unlock more value from the food we already have by helping it to stretch further. Check out these tips and recipes for pasta: bit.ly/3P3TCdi @LFHW_UK #FWAW #LFHW #CircularLiving #FoodWaste #HouseholdFoodWaste #FoodLossAndWaste #HFW #LocalAuthorities #Councils #GetInvolved #FoodWasteActionWeek2026

@WRAP_NGO How about taking food waste off supermarket & retailers shelves? There is video evidence taken by a member of the public who has filmed skips full of discarded food products within best before & use by dates. Stop blaming households. Look in skips

The value of the food we're throwing away is mind-blowing when you add it all up. 🤯 In the UK #FoodWaste costs on average £1,000 for a household of four every year in uneaten edible food. Our latest survey data shows that almost two thirds of people in the UK agree that some food waste at home is inevitable and that there’s little they can do to avoid it. We're determined to change that perception and help all of us embrace the many benefits of making the most of the food we buy. As part of this year's #FoodWasteActionWeek Love Food Hate Waste is setting the nation a five-day challenge to take food waste off the menu and enjoy the unexpected benefits of making the most of the food you buy. @WRAP_NGO @TheGrocer Fix the best before & use by date food system to prevent unnecessary surplus food waste generated by supermarkets, retailers & households. Produce less food. Stop supermarkets & retailers throwing out full price food.

Food waste produces more GHG emissions than all international commercial flights, but still goes largely unnoticed and ignored in everyday conversations, Estelle Herszenhorn, our Director of Food System Transformation, writes in @TheGrocer. "Put simply, the UK cannot meet its net zero commitments without addressing food waste, and this requires the collaboration of the food industry," she continues. thegrocer.co.uk/comment-and-op… No single company alone can achieve the change our #FoodSystem needs. Only through #CollaborativeAction across the entire food chain can we achieve a #CircularFoodSystem. We're calling on food and drink businesses to join our UK Food And Drink Pact and work collaboratively to secure a resilient food system, reduce food related GHG emissions and protect critical water resources for food supply. By using our precious resources more intelligently we can create a world with higher standards of living — tackling climate change, protecting nature, and reducing inequality. #UKFoodAndDrinkPact #FoodWasteReductionRoadmap #FutureProofFood #CollectiveAction #CircularLiving
