the rust naval update is a lot of fun, with a few tweaks it could be even better
-only player built boats should be able to enter the deep sea when it opens, rhibs and other boats should only be able to enter after a certain window (maybe 30 minutes)
-increase view distance for other ships, perhaps using a dynamic fog to come in and reduce view distance randomly. In sea of thieves you can see very distant ships and therefore push for fights while also allowing yourself time to get away if you want to run
- add large rivers inland on the map that essentially split the map into 2 or more islands, that would make boats FAR more useful and increase player interaction throughout the map

@SerWinterGaming audio range doesnt feel like a major factor in it tbh, you can see someone who's multiple minutes away so you can react accordingly

@welyn Actually not a bad idea. Rolling into the unknown through the eerie fog and then it all clears and there’s just chaos. I imagine in sea of thieves you can hear what’s going on in there though?

@SerWinterGaming higher view distance rewards vigilant players and sneaky maneuvers - they could add a fog of war around ghost ships, they do that in fort of the damned in sea of thieves... so it's like if you're inside you can see out, but if you're outside you cant see in
