Another thing you have to consider is the variability and volatility of Rust content. Not every wipe is going to be perfect cinema. So that will affect views. Solo’s Journey 3 did so well because I poured my heart and soul into it which is absolutely exhausting. Attempting to do that every upload wouldn’t be possible. I know that milestone videos do numbers ofc, and I know people love that template. But doing it every single upload is not only unrealistic from an editing fatigue standpoint but also an upload schedule standpoint.

The views say the opposite of that. It shows you delivered on what most people want, and that's why they're so highly viewed. As most people want to watch that. That's why they're your best performing videos by miles. You don't need to reinvent the wheel with every vid or spice things up everytime. The views(people) have shown you what they want for rust content. I think 40m views could be on the low end of average views for you per video. It's just you won't see that if you don't keep uploading what works. You need to maintain that or it'll be confusing for youtube on what to recommend because of the variation. Right now we know solo 100% works in this, but I have a theory that it doesn't have to be solo. I think that if you replicate the same level of viewer involvement/immersion that playing solo gives could be replicated intro group videos (maybe duo vids at the start) the same result can be achieved. It's just harder story telling wise.

I've never seen a level of disinterest from viewers for new content in Rust, especially for one as big as the Naval Update. Very interesting to see... maybe slightly worrying too? 😅

I hear you, but my video previous was the exact opposite. A slow burn, focus on story, big revenge at the end. And it performed WORSE than my latest. So its not about the speed/progression, its about the Naval update. As for milsetone videos, those do well BECAUSE they are so few and far between. If I made Solo's Journey every month, they wouldn't do so well. That being said, im very excited to get to work on this next one. But yeah since I did two polar opposite wipe styles back to back, and both performed badly, it is sad to see viewers are just not even getting past the home page. Maybe a sign to FP that. Rust players are just not with these kind of changes.

Your latest vid was mainly just pvp, and loot farming without pay off. Which doesn't satisfy all rust viewer types as not every viewer type will like that video. Every vid to achieve max views needs to be watchable by every viewer type. A lot of stuff in your video was skipped over and progression wasn't shown that'd normally hook a viewer. The pvp/farming was substancesless because it wasn't to play the game to play a wipe. The same way a normal rust player would. Which is to build a base play the wipe to raid, create enemies, raid them, get allies, make friends, and do all monuments like your goal videos. Which unfortunately just makes it mindless pvp in a vlog format that doesn't have pay out. You also didn't show a lot of the progression, and stuff that a viewer would normally hook the viewer, and tie them into their wipe. Make videos like your most viewed that has milestones which hooks the viewer to watch to the end. Also the more raw format ties allows people to experience and feel the wipe more. That's in part what keeps people watching till the end. Proof in the pudding.

@blooprintgames I think it's more because of the delay of the patch, people were making 'Naval' videos two months before the patch even hit live through staging branch etc. So by the time the patch actually hit, the content was no longer 'new' and had been done by every creator and their dog.
