It was 2:30 AM at the Cross-Over vigil.
The church auditorium was packed. Hot. Sweaty.
The Pastor’s voice boomed over the massive speakers.
"Close your eyes!"
"Grab the hand of the person sitting next to you!"

I closed my eyes.
I reached my left hand out blindly over the armrest of my plastic chair.
Somebody grabbed it.
The hand was rough and dry. Like old wood.
But the prayer point was intense, so I just gripped it tightly and started speaking in tongues.
Ten minutes passed.
Twenty minutes.
I squeezed the hand as the prayer peaked.
The hand squeezed back.
