@real_phavour Like how tf am I supposed to fly to Lagos, ngl i panicked at first but reckoned the word, i took a sachet water, gave thanks to God and drank it on behalf of my mom. After my short prayer, we followed through with medical procedures and bills. All thanks to God she’s alive.

@real_phavour Hey idk how you might see this. I was in your shoes just last month, moved over to east, encountered Christ, got a call one month later in the middle of the night that my mom was badly sick and needed urgent care.

In January my Mum was diagnosed of cancer, in secs I saw my life falling apart. Hospital gave us bill of 9Million -11milion naira. To cover for 6cycles of chemotherapy, Radiotherapy and surgery. I could only cry cause where are we going to get such amount of money. I came on here last month to seek help and the people that donated 241k came out. God bless you all for me🙏 So far we have spent 5million naira and we are left with about 7 Million naira. I’m already exhausted;financially and all ways. The hospital asked me to come get letter so we can return to our state, cause no money for her to continue. I don’t know where else to turn to, I’m back again begging and crying 😭 Please help my mum survive Cancer. She is fighting so hard for her life and recovering well. We don’t just have the money. I can’t watch her just go back home to nothing😭 Please any amount will go a long way to help her. In 2023, I was stranded in Oshodi while coming back from an interview. No cash, no money in the account. Phone at 4%. Rain was beating me black and blue with no hideout. I posted: “Please, is anybody around Oshodi? My phone is about to go off and I’m stuck at Arena Junction. I need 2k for transport to get back home. I’ll pay back tomorrow. No jokes please.” I tagged three of my closest friends, people that called me “sister” on birthdays. First reply was laughing emojis. “LMAO, you don finally cast.” Second reply: “Omo, trek am, exercise.” Third person saw it and posted a meme two minutes later. My phone died. I sat on a bench laid across the walkway, soaked, watching Lagos run past me, thinking this is how it ends for two thousand naira. After a few minutes, a car parked close to where I was. The car windows rolled down and a voice asked, “Are you Ireoluwa?” I nodded. “One guy say make I carry you go Abule Egba. E don pay.” I got in without thinking twice. Halfway, my phone buzzed on the driver’s power bank. A DM from a stranger I never followed: “Hey there, I saw your post. I really don’t know you but I know that feeling. Bolt is paid to your street. Get home safe. No need to pay back. Just help someone else one day when you can.” I got home and checked his page. He’d been job hunting for three months and was probably broke. But he sent me a ride and some money. Now we are good friends even though we have still never met. My friends with jobs posted me for cruise. A stranger with nothing posted me for life. That night I learned friendship doesn’t define family. Sometimes your lifeline is the person you’ve never met.

I will never advise anybody to stay in an apartment where you share prepaid meter with neighbors. Our light finished today, so I told my neighbor to contribute so we could recharge. She said she didn’t have money and she didn’t even need the light. I said no problem and used my own money to subscribe 2K just so I could manage till morning. Later, I wanted to fetch water and noticed the tap was not rushing, I stepped outside only to discover madam has turned on her light, AC working perfectly, enjoying herself comfortably with the same light she claimed she didn’t need. See ehn, it’s not even about the money alone. It’s the mindset. If you know you’ll still use the light, why not contribute from the beginning instead of pretending you’re not interested? Should I go and knock at her door or do I just turn off her light? What would you do if you were me?

I bought a new Generator and gave my Gen repair guy the old one. Baba started rolling on the floor 😂 I thought that was the end, I got a call in the evening and it happened to be his wife who just gave birth in April. This woman wan use prayer and gratitude finish me. She said her child will at least not suffer too much from heat this period. I had to send another 19k from Elon Musk payout wey I wan use flex this weekend so she can buy full tank of fuel. She burst cry 😂😂 I had to just end the call. The crying was too much. Mek I no dip her inside my small savings. 😭

Cancer is one of the most painful and unpredictable diseases. You can do everything right..eat healthy, exercise, avoid smoking, and live well and still hear a diagnosis nobody ever wants. What is even more unsettling is that some of the people I have seen with cancer are those who exercise regularly, eat healthy, and have no prior medical history. Even people who have never smoked a day in their life can still be diagnosed with lung cancer. It’s heartbreaking and honestly humbling.
