It’s a disservice to beginners to say "learning programming is easy" even if the desired effect is to encourage one to learn. It the opposite effect when they find it difficult. Instead, we should say that programming foundations have simple behaviors that most people can understand. But that when combined, complexity compounds. That complexity is not easy to understand. Simple components compound to complexity. The trick to learning programming well is to systematically deconstruct components to their simple behaviors and then slowly combine in order to control one’s exposure to the growing complexity. In this way, learning programming is simple. But it’s not easy.
