@kieranridley5 @Addicks110 I played amateur football for 30+ years and qualified as a ref last month. I think those that don’t understand maybe haven’t played much? Just my opinion. I’ve not been given much in the way of guidance, but I talk to the GKs before the game to explain, worked for me so far!

@wezzer85 @Addicks110 Exactly that, which is a concern because from conversations today, there doesn’t seem to have been much provided to the referees to help them understand a goalkeeper’s actions.

I’m a fan of changes made to stop keepers wasting time. But this is not what the law change was intended to do. Big catch from a corner, smother as expected and then play = absolutely fine. 8.13 seconds from catch to release, not a single one of my team questioned it. (1/2)

@kieranridley5 @Addicks110 Even if it was the 2nd, 3rd or 50th time, that’s not time wasting at all. The rule is designed to stop GKs just lying on the ball for 20 secs, getting up slowly, walk left, bounce, walk right, bounce. That just seems like a bad use of the new rule. Education needed 👍

@Addicks110 I posted it as I figured I’m completely biased… the other way!! Not a single SUFC person was looking at that for time wasting. I timed it, 8.13 seconds from catch to drop, which includes catch/fall/secure/get up/release.
