Around the world, millions of women and girls don’t know where their next meal will come from. Every day they have to find a way to feed themselves and their families. Sometimes they succeed. Sometimes they don't. We need to demand change. There's more than enough food on the planet to feed us all, so why are millions of people still hungry? And why aren't we shouting about it? Mozambique is facing its worst flooding in decades. Critical infrastructure has been destroyed, communities are completely cut off and 450,000 people urgently need lifesaving food. But when roads disappear underwater, how do you reach the people who need help most? Enter the SHERP — a compact, amphibious vehicle that's revolutionizing humanitarian response. These vehicles navigate flooded terrain, carrying 2,000 meals up to 375 miles on a single tank — equivalent to driving the entire length of the state of Georgia. SHERPs cost 20 times less than air delivery, making every dollar stretch further to save more lives. In Mozambique's Xai-Xai city, WFP is deploying these vehicles alongside boats, aircraft, and helicopters to reach remote and submerged areas that would otherwise be impossible to access.
