The ₹92,000 crore Great Nicobar Project, in the name of “development,” presents a model that appears to ignore tribal existence, environmental sustainability, and democratic consent. The planned felling of millions of trees, the threats to marine ecosystems, and the displacement of the Nicobarese and Shompen communities—who have lived there for generations—highlight how marginalized local voices have become in policymaking.
The biggest question is: when tribal communities themselves are demanding the protection of their land, culture, and way of life, for whom—and at what cost—is this project being pushed forward? If “development” means displacement, ecological destruction, and a lack of transparency, then it is not development but a systematic model of destruction.

For at least a month now, I haven’t gone a single day without coming across news of a child being raped, sometimes even by another minor. Yet I haven’t once seen a prime time debate about it.
When are we going to talk about how India seriously has a pedophilia problem?
The Times Of India@timesofindia
A 3.5-year-old girl was raped and strangled to death in #Gurgaon after being lured away by a neighbour. The 25-year-old accused, confessed to the crime during police interrogation. He admitted to taking the child to an empty place and then killing her to destroy evidence. Details here 🔗toi.in/sdHlha
