The ₹92,000 crore Great Nicobar Project, in the name of “development,” presents a model that appears to ignore tribal existence, environmental sustainability, and democratic consent. The planned felling of millions of trees, the threats to marine ecosystems, and the displacement of the Nicobarese and Shompen communities—who have lived there for generations—highlight how marginalized local voices have become in policymaking. The biggest question is: when tribal communities themselves are demanding the protection of their land, culture, and way of life, for whom—and at what cost—is this project being pushed forward? If “development” means displacement, ecological destruction, and a lack of transparency, then it is not development but a systematic model of destruction.

minister of social injustice and disempowerment really said that they’re bringing this amendment to protect little kids who are being ‘turned trans’ among other things that never happened, while bhajpa is full of men who have SA-ed children and young women with impunity.

always targeting minorities instead of addressing 1) collapsing economy 2) lpg supply crisis 3) public money funding “world tours” and “phone calls” 4) rapists walking free 5) marital rape not fully recognized as rape. this is “democracy.” this is the government of india.

Y’all HAVE to get talking about the trans rights amendment bill in India rn. Not only is it going to take away fundamental trans rights, it’s going to lower the sentence for the rape of trans women. India has one of the BIGGEST QUEER COMMUNITIES IN THE WORLD, yes, in THE WORLD.

cant believe that india is filled with such uneducated people in our parliament where they are deciding that trans people having rights is a bigger threat than rapists roaming around freely in every single fucking corner of every state. why are we going backwards

People are forced to walk 2-3 km distances in the afternoon heat because the BEST buses have become so infrequent. Cannot understand why the govt does not simply add buses. It’s such a low hanging fruit - costs relatively little and improves thousands of lives

Not one News channel discussing this horrific case 33 victims. Some have got permanent medical issues for life. Some have squint eyes. Some are still in therapy. Sexual abuse of boys is rarely discussed in India despite there being so many victims. Most don't speak.

For at least a month now, I haven’t gone a single day without coming across news of a child being raped, sometimes even by another minor. Yet I haven’t once seen a prime time debate about it. When are we going to talk about how India seriously has a pedophilia problem?
The Times Of India@timesofindia

A 3.5-year-old girl was raped and strangled to death in #Gurgaon after being lured away by a neighbour. The 25-year-old accused, confessed to the crime during police interrogation. He admitted to taking the child to an empty place and then killing her to destroy evidence. Details here 🔗toi.in/sdHlha
