Wheat farmers and researchers were in DC this week, urging Congress and the administration to prioritize wheat research. Research is one of the most powerful tools farmers have to stay competitive, develop better varieties, manage disease, and produce the highest quality wheat.

These tools are critical to keeping U.S. wheat competitive and to fighting global hunger.

NAWG is excited to see this legislation move forward. Especially encouraged to see key wins in the Trade & Food Aid titles, including movement of OBBBA funds into MAP and FMD, and the transfer of Food for Peace to USDA.

Commodity Classic continues to be a highlight of our year and an important event for farmers to attend and make their voices heard.

Had a great week at @ComClassic in San Antonio! NAWG and NWF connected with farmers, USDA leaders, and industry partners to talk rising costs and push for solutions that keep wheat growers profitable.

This week, the NAWG Board visited the White House to hear from administration officials and share perspectives on issues impacting wheat growers, including trade opportunities, regulatory challenges, and strengthening the farm safety net.

We’re excited to welcome Auston Andersen as our new Secretary! Auston brings a wealth of experience in wheat farming to the NAWG officer team, along with a deep commitment to supporting farmers and strengthening rural communities. We’re grateful to have him part of our team.

Congratulations to our 2025 Wheat Leader of the Year @RepMann ! Congressman Mann has been a tireless advocate for wheat growers and rural communities, and his leadership on transferring the Food for Peace program to USDA is a major victory for American farmers.
