I had been doing okay (ish). But today, as I was sorting papers to grade, I glanced out the window and saw a young tree. Suddenly, a rush of overwhelming grief hit me hard, and I could barely catch my breath. It felt like a heavy weight was pressing on my chest. Thoughts of the people I’ve lost, including ambiguous loss, flooded my mind, and I wished so much that I could hug them just one more time. Thankfully, I was alone in the room. Grief is a sign that you have loved.
