Ending U.S. military aid to Israel sounds like a disaster.
It’s not.
Israel has been slowly weaning itself off U.S. aid. This isn’t a shock scenario. It’s already in motion.
Here’s what some people miss. Israel is a small country with a manpower constraint. Always has been. But autonomy and robots are about to change that equation. And Israel has about 4,500 square miles of open desert to build at scale.
Put those together and you get something big. A serious ramp in weapons production over the next decade.
Israel is already around the 7th largest arms exporter in the world. For a country its size, that’s not normal. And it’s not staying there.
Now the part people don’t like to say.
U.S. aid isn’t charity. It’s alignment with benefits on both sides. A strong Israel needed for U.S. interests in the Middle East. But it also gives Washington leverage.
The more self sufficient Israel becomes, the less that leverage matters.
At that point, the relationship shifts. Not weaker. More balanced. True partners.
Ending U.S military aid to Israel is a good thing.
