@narrative_hole It doesn't matter what the EU or the U.S. does. Aside, there is no chance of a majority in the German populus that would support a proactive deployment. People really need to take their blue/yellow shades off and recognize the legal circumstances in Germany for what they are.

Germany has a similar arrangement with the Netherlands. It can only be reactive. German law is unambiguous about the deployment of military resources. And even then, both chambers of the house must vote before troops can be deployed. Artikel 115a GG (1) The Bundestag shall determine that the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany is being attacked by force of arms or that such an attack is imminent (case of defence) with the consent of the Bundesrat.
