@MikeWigmore Dude - 100% get it. I will say this using a PC keyboard on Mac would benefit from keymapping… if you’re talking about keymapping and don’t mention CAPS LOCK get rek’d. 🤡😂 And! Just to sound SUPER FUCKING OLD - “I remember keyboards BEFORE the windows key.”

@cyb3rops I agree the true/false matching is over used, however if you’re trying to extract data ($1,$2 etc) then regex is great. Instr, startsWith, endsWith, contains are great on their own for sure… rock on!!

I’d say 90% of regex usage in detection rules / queries could be avoided with no or minimal reduction of specificity
