New testimonies from released Palestinian detainees from Israeli prisons confirm that Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya is being slowly executed and is subjected to harsher torture than other detainees. According to the testimonies, he is repeatedly interrogated, beaten, and humiliated in the most degrading forms. In many cases, he has been stripped naked and dogs have been used to attack him. He is forced, under torture, to repeat insults and degrading words about himself. He is suffering from constant vomiting and is being denied basic treatment. The Israeli occupation is taking revenge on Gaza’s finest doctors! #FreeDrHussamAbuSafiya

Movies where a character embarrasses themselves are worse than getting shot. I genuinely have to pause the movie to do a lap around my living room so that I don't jump off a building. Second-hand embarrassment is agony untold.

being in the closet is not a privilege and if you think that, I am begging you to look at people fighting for their lives to leave the closet or killing themselves because they can't

im shocked seeing people say ‘delaying ur transitioning is a privilege’ ‘hiding your identity whenever u want is a privilege’ like do you people hear yourselves? do u realise that no one is doing that just for fun?? but bc sometimes u HAVE to in order to survive?

cant even afford to think about their gender identity bc life gets in the way! And dont even get me started on the fact that you DONT HAVE TO transition in order to be trans! someone ‘not visibly’ trans is still trans and will still experience discrimination or isolation !

like a lot of trans people can only be their true selves in their own free time and not in the actual wide world, i mean its no secret transphobia is rampant! People are losing jobs, are being bullied, killed and ur saying its a PRIVILEGE to have to hide? there are folks who

Before I could ask what was wrong, I was already looking at her face. The child sat in front of me. Her mother was beside her. She was small and very quiet. Her face was covered in red, swollen bites. There were too many of them. It seemed disproportionate, as if her face could not contain them. I leaned closer. The mother stopped me. “That’s not the problem, doctor,” she said. “They are mosquito bites. It is like this every day.” She said it without hesitation. Then she explained why she had come. The child had severe diarrhea. It had started after drinking milk distributed by an international organization. I wrote the prescription. The case itself was simple. But I kept thinking about the face. Not because of the bites, but because they no longer meant anything. They had lost their status as a problem. They belonged to the order of things. The mother was almost surprised that I had noticed them. It seemed that I was the one who did not understand. There are places where suffering is no longer an event. It becomes a condition. Something continuous, like the air. In such places, distinctions disappear. What should alarm us no longer does. What should be temporary settles into permanence. A child can be covered in bites and it is nothing unusual. Children sleep among insects and rodents. They fall ill from what is given to sustain them. Each day is organized around endurance. No one calls this life. But it continues. One adapts. That is perhaps the most troubling part. Because adaptation gives the appearance of order. It creates the illusion that things can go on like this. But there are limits that should not be crossed. When they are, the world does not collapse. It simply becomes quieter. And in that quiet, what is intolerable begins to resemble the normal. #WoundedGaza
