hey, i'm leaving all social platforms for good. not a break or anything, i'm done. it took me a while to write this as i wanted to properly say goodbye to friends and family before publicly announcing this a lot has changed in my life recently and i'm going somewhere i can't really talk about. this account might still see research drops occasionally but that's it. i won't be around to talk i've been thinking and writing about this for a long time in some articles some of you have read that are still unreleased. we took the most powerful communication technology in human history and turned it into a slot machine that makes u sad. every notification is a tiny lie telling you that you matter to someone. you don't. every interaction mediated by an algorithm that's optimized for outrage because outrage is engagement and engagement is revenue the internet taught me to mistake information for intimacy. i spent years building my life through screens and i think that for a long time i convinced myself those connections were enough. that text on a screen was the same as sitting next to someone at 3am the reality is that it's not. it never was. humans are inherently social creatures trying to survive in an antisocial infrastructure and i don't want to keep pretending the infrastructure is fine i do want to say though that some of the best people i've ever met, i met through here. i don't really think most of you realize how much those connections meant to me. thank you for being part of my life, even if it was just for a while i found something that gave me a little glimpse of meaning and i want to protect that by not diluting it with the performance of existing online it's been a good run. if we're close you already know how to reach me. and if you happen to see me out in public, since i know even if i escape the internet online, it's quite hard to escape it IRL where we live, please respect my wish and leave me out of this hellscape we call the internet
