@Sam_Ruggerio @0x1337cafe: @hamclock and I replicated what you did after you all scampered off. On our first attempt, the real_or_imaginary function wiped out the modded user file because we forgot to change your id's entry in the version file, we got there in the end, haha.

The RX on the badges was working at 100%, so dropping a fast loader TX into the second core would have allowed for moving your spoofed / modified user files to other badges in just a few seconds.

I suspect this micropython quirk could also be used with the 'art: ' handler to pull in a mode 1 logo from a second user file which has been modified.

@Runicmajier @atdiy That was awesome, haha. Thinking about it, the RX was snappy on the badge. So a 'non-badge' device could be used to TX 128 chunks over just a few seconds.

@atdiy @whixr Fixed that with wearing multiple badges to "be the mesh network".

Okay so this year @CypherCon - 700 badges, Raspberry Pi Pico, 200k RAM, 16mb eeprom, probably at least 10k lines of code written between us. 4 mechanically failed that were reported but 4 fixed :p

So @whixr and I have been pulling 17 hr days for this year's @CypherCon badge. For 48 hrs thought we'd have to redo 6000 lines of code in a completely different language / architecture. Through some Whisker magic, & redesigning the badge compiler...disaster averted!! #badgelife

@insurgent @atdiy The slowest modem she has actually used is a 300 baud acoustic coupler. Normal around here is 2400 baud, as anything faster wouldn't make it through the PCM chips in the PBX. Mister Nyquist does not appreciate those fancy frequencies.

@atdiy I blame @whixr for you even having an inkling of what torture using a 110 baud dial-up experience is like! :D

Sometimes when typing in Twitter - whether a tweet or DM, it's like watching a 110 baud modem type out. I've typed the whole thing out and each word takes a few seconds to come out. Two minutes later, I can then actually proof/send it.

@EvanMCook @Rsephone I use a line simulator and a surplus radio station Symetrix rackmount unit to connect my phone system to my mixer. But it was an auction find, and full of rust and spiders. Even's option is probably the better :)

@EvanMCook I interviewed the founder a bit before the service started for a podcast. I liked the idea and registered day 1. Still selling there many years later. Have not had any problems that they didn't take care of right away.
