@lollylollipops2 @AndrewCFollett It’s cute to see this kind of commentary from people who never got within 50 feet of any law school, much less law review at Harvard. You might as well discuss the mating habits of ancient Martians for all the actual knowledge that *you* have about it.

In undergrad, I called Obama an idiot in front of a professor...citing the fact that he was the only editor of the Harvard Law Review to never publish a law review. She literally screamed at me while frothing at the mouth. Never said how I was wrong though!

@AbolitionEsq Yeah I don’t get this. Do they mean he never wrote a note/article? That would be extremely unlikely. Do they mean no editions were published during his tenure on the board - a non-issue depending on the explanation. Most likely they have no idea what they are talking about.

What would it mean for an individual editor to “publish a law review”?

@RAHarrisonPA @rparloff yeah there's nothing inherently in the rules about that. I imagine it's because you needed party consent to the initial motion to withdraw. Beyond my scope.

@whoswitz @rparloff FRAP 42(b)(2) applies to the original motion to dismiss the appeal. The rule doesn’t say anything about withdrawing such a motion, once filed. That’s my point. Why ask for permission to withdraw it rather than just withdrawing it?

@RAHarrisonPA @rparloff FRAP 42 (b) (2), this is a motion normally granted fairly freely, but judges will apply some scrutiny when it's a gov't/agency decision affecting policy determinations. It's a high bar because it involves a lower court decision, but rarely could look like malfeasance.

@rparloff Is there something about FRAP or in the D.C. Circuit rules that even requires this motion? Why ask permission instead of just filing a notice that says “we withdraw the motion@?

@G0ffThew People would sit at rapt attention for the Wax and Wayne saga. The hook is amazing and the buddy-dramady antics are entertaining. Shadows of Self is a great darker arc, and the climax in the Lost Metal is a great big epic culmination.

I understand why they have to do these projects together, but I kinda wish they’d just skip the original Mistborn trilogy and get right to adapting Wax and Wayne.

@DistressedPickL @cmclymer The students paper was on "gender". That's not topical response to the specific research she'd been assigned. She failed to demonstrate familiarity with the assigned reading, which is the entire point of the instructions she was given.

You can cite the Bible in an academic paper. You can reference it, chapter and verse, in support of your thesis. You can even do so when your thesis isn't directly related to theology. But there's a difference between citing the Bible as an academic reference and simply saying "God is the bestest God in the whole wide world, and I should get an A+ for saying so."

@connor_brite @Ebm120 @lporiginalg Lmao no there were like less than 10,000 jews in the entire country - the vast majority of them living in the non-slave-owning North, for the majority of the period leading up until the civil war. Even then that includes the women and children who couldn't own anything at all.
