So I was conversing with a dear friend about how much the inauthenticity of social media bothers me deeply. I have a visceral response to it, which causes me to skulk off in a corner and stay quiet. But, she rightfully pointed out that if I don't speak my truth—if I don't show up as the authentic presence that I crave— then I am just contributing to the current dynamic. A non-vote is a vote, especially this year.

@Meysocial I’m very sorry. It’s painful to witness others appearing not to care (or even celebrating) pain. My DMs are open if you need someone who’s willing to listen. I’m also reminded of Parker Palmer’s saying: “Violence is what happens when we don't know what to do with our suffering.”

@Meysocial Hang in there! It’s really hard, but teens need to hear that adults care and that we can be honest and vulnerable. We set the examples on how to remain open-hearted in the face of darkness.

Anyone who murders civilians is evil. There is nothing to celebrate. Celebrating murder is evil. Politics becomes so divorced from reality as to destroy our sense of moral judgment when ideological victory becomes more important than human life. And what is lost is human life.

Thread. I finished teaching a course on evil last Thursday. The last reading we discussed was Hannah Arendt’s “Thinking and Moral Considerations.” In the essay Arendt asks how politics can become so divorced from reality as to destroy our sense of moral judgment.

Had an intense examination but was referred to a neurosurgeon STAT for a second opinion (10am tomorrow). Then next 2 weeks have 2 MRI's - head to waist / waist to feet. Ortho surgeon will then have a clearer view of what's wrong with me! 💔💔💔
