Let me share a hack: If the locked phone is more than 3yrs old (from production date), you can easily unlock it without paying a kobo.
Go to the website of the carrier it’s locked on, look for “unlock device”, enter your IMEI, and wait for 72hours.
Your phone will be unlocked.

I was able to pass another Aether Assessment test yesterday night If you have a UK account with Aether project and all of a sudden it starts to show ineligible without you taking the test, you need to wait for 3 days then try again This is one is also a UK account and it once shows ineligible at first.
