My John Deere 6125M decided it needs a new turbo.. AGAIN!!! This one lasted only 2 years and about 7 or 800 hours…do I get a Re-man or go with OEM?
PS…. Not sure what option dad went with the last time it happened. Have to find that out yet.

Cattle rocketed higher after Friday's inventory report suggested a smaller YOY '26 calf crop. I expect May to print a new high before expiration, but if not, it will almost certainly test the gaps left by the correction off the highs. A close above $361 is a definite win today.

If packers are colluding on prices, they are not very good at it. Been a bad run of sustained losses while ranchers and feeders have been profitable. Beef sector remains an outlier compared to other ag sectors.

Two critical drivers: overcapitalization and farming revenues. Both are pushing farmland values higher—and in some regions, well beyond what ag productivity alone would justify.
Urban encroachment gets the headlines, but its impact is geographically limited. Any study claiming that urban sprawl is the primary driver of rising farmland prices is, frankly, missing the plot. The real driver is supply management, which has had a systemic effect—especially in dairy, poultry, and egg sectors—by artificially inflating asset values tied to quota. Add to that Ottawa’s ongoing direct payments to supply-managed sectors, and you’ve got a policy cocktail that distorts market signals and reinforces inflated valuations. Pair that with a decade of cheap capital, and land becomes a financial instrument, not just a productive input.
So yes, urban pressure exists, but the bigger story is how policy and capital have financialized farmland across the country.
