Statistically this is a very good competitive patch. This is what 92% of the meta looks like. I've doing stats for 3 years, and this in the top 10% of good meta outcomes. It doesn't mean fun or balanced, but it is deep and competitive. Far better than I thought it would be.🙏

As someone who's played a lot of bad tourney patches these past 2 were honestly fine despite the dooming (I did a bit myself tbf). Think ppl really overestimate how solved patches are at the start.

@CuewarsTaner @ImpetuousPanda @MeanMisterKien Ping diff is undeniable to me. I had a game on day1 where I had shaky execution, one more error would have sent me 8th, but I wonout from 1 life. If I was EU, I lose 7 points that game from the ping, no doubt in my mind, and likely miss the final lobby.

Only a few Americas players frankly admitted the ping advantage is not deniable. Viewers always say playing at nidnight is a disadvantage while it can be positive to some players. The other 3 regions have been complained about this for years. Just not brought to the table and there's no solutions.

@DarthNoob If there was more serious investigation of the numbers, I'd be happy to hear that I'm wrong about this. But from what I saw of looking into it, I was not very happy with people going around spewing these numbers without a reasonable attempt to properly validate them.

@DarthNoob Run the numbers yourself, from any player's rank + percentile. Metatft puts NA at 400k players. Tactics tools puts it at 400k. Lolchess puts it at 230k. Posting the outlier, which is also the least believable, is jumping the gun to dogpile + act smug. Do better.

5th overall TPC2, @DarthNoob is the king. I threw a couple games and was unhappy but played a good last game, should requal me to TPC. Tired of the set 17 hate. Pls do not fall for unverified player num posts, or let ppl tell you that you cannot have fun playing TFT right now.

@TheTruexy A 12.5% dmg nerf to a drain carry (briar) is unnecessary, unless the comp is meta-shattering. This came with nerfs to both duo carries of the comp, who also sustain briar through helping her snowball. A 1cost meta may be unwanted but that doesnt justify a clear overshoot imo.

@TheTruexy To me, the most problematic issue is the nerf felt cleraly overdone. I read the notes and had zero doubt that every 1c rr was completely dead. I get a 1cost meta wasn't wanted, but this one felt like a clear overswing, especially given corki/yi being left alone.

Want to expand upon this discussion, since the feedback is a fair callout of what's missing in 17.3. 1. Reroll nerfs. There's a large focus on what fell out of meta and not enough on the goals here. 1-cost reroll as a consistent comp pushes the game towards being decided on 2-1, something we try to avoid. TF & Teemo nerfs were pretty heavy-handed, but from our POV a 3rd patch of 1c reroll dominance would be far worse. What we didn't execute on was 2c and 3c reroll taking their place. Things like Gnar/Akali/Miss Fortune/Diana buffs did not make an impact here. 2. The 4-costs have narrowed in on Master Yi/Corki with Aurelion Sol on the edge. In a world where 2c/3c changes landed better, this leads to a meta with a healthier balance. Add on Xayah/Morgana (who's changes landed weak) and LeBlanc (who's too conditional) and the environment is a lot closer than it seems. 3. Space Groove. This feels revisionist, but I'm not here to defend the state of SG on live. There's quite a few players that saw the changes before 17.3 and expected Space Groove to rise to S/A tier. 4. Trait Structures/Emblems. This goes back to the core structure of the trait, especially building around smaller/tighter verticals with more flexible 5 costs. To be honest, it's a little tough for us to totally address this mid-set due to fundamental design, but we'll continue to use the levers we do have access to and take the learnings for future sets. 5. Classes/Augments/Blessings. There's been a lot of content in each patch, and with set mechanic shifts, moving Morgana to a new cost, and midset trait augments. To be frank, some of these fell through the cracks while we were trying to tackle too much too quickly since we were reacting to player feedback around the set. I get that it feels like we've retracing mistakes, and this is a signal that slip-ups here cascade patch after patch, so we're taking a look at our processes to make sure that we know when to slow down and focus vs. going too broad. 6. Ok, why no B-Patch then if we agree with everything? This isn't saying the set is perfectly balanced, but moreso saying it's something we need to get right here, and we've seen the consequences of rushing changes or swinging too fast (17.1B and 17.3). There's a fair set of changes coming in 17.4 specifically targeting the problems you've mentioned that expand beyond a B-patch. Shipping a partial version only covers 1 issue by risking another.

Disappointing to see the the game's balance devolving to this state on 17.3, I really don't understand the idea behind nerfing every single reroll to the point they are essentially unplayable when imho they were the saving grace of the set until now allowing for 3-4 extra playable lines under the right conditions and variety/flexibility game to game and especially leaving Corki entirely untouched. Yes, in some edge cases Leona was out of line, then simply nerf the edge cases. Why did teemo get a big nerf? Was teemo really the issue? Why was Primordian completely gutted, especially Belveth who was no at all a problematic unit in the line. Why nerf both the main tank and the main carry of every reroll line like Jax + TF? Why are traits like Space Groove not worth considering at all for most of the playerbase for two patches in a row? An entire vertical? A comp/unit/emblem is either slightly out of line for less than a patch or misconstrued for being problematic/strong at the start of the set and they are basically removed entirely from the equation for 2 patches(Space groove +1, Nova Emblem & Vertical, Viktor RR, Xayah too weak, Leblanc too weak + inconsistent w/ arbiter balance) Why is there so much disparity in emblems when certain traits are so disappointing to vertically index into(Challenger, Sniper) or when the emblems make so little sense with how the traits work Anima with 3/6 breakpoints, Stargazer in half of the constellations, Arbiter in all but 1% of situations. And the cherry on top is the addition of augments like Timestream where any direct comparison to past augments such as Hefty Rolls would show it is objectively one of the worst augments ever added to the game that doesn't directly hinder the player. How can an augment be introduced to the game with these numbers in Set 17? Shouldn't there be a better benchmark for augment power at this point, especially when it's stat-based by nature? Why are we tripping over the same stone again and again? Patch 17.1 -> Just Hit, Max Build removed due 3 star 4 cost yet again becoming an overwhelming problem 17.2 -> Pandora's Seat added as a God offering? Really hoping this set moves into a better state in the next few patches, regardless of balance this patch is simply frustrating to play even in contrast to 17.2b which was by baseline already not a great patch with the entirety of AP flex being so weak and the Master Yi dominance but at least the reroll options were there.

The best unconditional board was found: - reroll at 7 for Samira, Ornn 3* (lvl 7 board in first comment) - the best stargazer buffs are stage 2 Mountain > Boar > Altar > Serpent > Hunteress >>> Fountain - hard prio Samira items (Shojin + DB / Crit build)

@fors_wall This is made even more clear as the admins DID try to fix it - put out a ping about ppl missing the second signup link. They realized how many were missing, and not just unknown teams. The ping was just far too late - only a few hours before closing, during the night for NA.

@fors_wall As someone who organized tournaments - if you think those signups are important + have easy steps, to avoid forecasted mis-signups, then yes - 100% supposed to. "Their fault, didnt read" is pointless and immature for TO to believe, as the signups are mutally beneficial.

Seeing replies calling soju voice of reason CTG missing signup is sending VIT straight to closed qual - soju and setsy are well aware of this. They did not develop a newfound appreciation for the rules over the past few sets. 🥀🥀
