January 2026, all men between the ages of 17 and 45 must obtain a permit from the Bundeswehr Army Career Center if they want to leave Germany for more than three months - whether for a semester abroad, a job or a longer trip. The amendment came into force largely unnoticed within the framework of the Military Service Modernization Act. Previously, the Frankfurter Rundschau reported.
