It's #BellLetsTalk day. We are all feeling the effects of COVID-19 in every aspect of our lives, especially our mental health. Reach out when needed, and check in on loved ones, we are stronger together. 💙

“After I impulsively revealed that I have OCD on a talk show… people came to me and said, 'Me, too.' They were the most comforting words I've ever heard. Whatever you’re dealing with in life, know that you’re not alone.” – 🇨🇦 @HowieMandel #BellLetsTalk

I have been at the top
I have been at the bottom
I have laughed in public
I have sobbed in private
I have felt confident
I have felt worthless
I have looked forward to tomorrow
I have dreaded tomorrow’s arrival

Looking at the "bright side" is what a healthy, often caring brain says to a depressed person. It makes perfect sense to the healthy brain. To the depressed brain it makes as much sense as telling a blind person to "look at the pretty flowers."

#BellLetsTalk If every action counts, how about funding the 100,000 supportive housing units called for by the Mental Health Commission of Canada in 2011 and ending homelessness? We're still waiting

#BellLetsTalk -if every action counts how about spending $85 per Canadian to meet the mental health spending targets proposed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada in 2012

Success for someone with depression:
Today I woke up, got up, didn’t give up.

hey #BellLetsTalk folks, if you don't support universal basic income, if you don't support raising the rates for ODSP (& other disability programs), if you don't support guaranteed housing for all, then stop pretending to care about mental health and people with mental illnesses.

The tax implications would never outweigh a properly designed #BasicIncome such as this. Not until your at $80,000 a year. So how is it not in the best interests to help 19 Million Canadians at once? #cdnpoli #nopath @JustinTrudeau @cafreeland @theJagmeetSingh @erinotoole

That’s nice.
But if you really, REALLY want to improve mental health initiatives, you would understand what it meant, having a CERB.
Ergo, a Universal Basic Income. But #BellLetsTalk ain’t ready to have that conversation.

#BellLetsTalk If we actually care about people's mental health, how about bringing back paid sick days so they don't have to work while sick? Providing a basic income so they don't have to worry about not being able to pay bills? Putting a moratorium on evictions during Covid /1

We need universal mental healthcare coverage in Canada and we need it now
I’m tired of seeing people struggling or losing their lives because they couldn’t afford therapy or treatment
Mental illness is it’s own epidemic in this country
