@1Ark4humanity @saniyafatma1278 Good infrastructure is important when so close to a dwelling like this, but I love that plan. If I had an alleyway Iโd surely try it!

@WildOzark @saniyafatma1278 Isn't nature amazing when you just allow it to work.

I seriously need some help here. My neighbor just put up this massive metal fence right along our property line and Iโm honestly pretty upset about it. It completely changed the whole feel of my driveway and now it looks like Iโm pulling into some kind of industrial corridor. I had no idea this was even happening until the thing was already built. It feels like my space just got boxed in overnight. What on earth can I do in a situation like this???

@1Ark4humanity @saniyafatma1278 I love this.

Creation here ๐
I'm going to help you get even.
By the time you're done your neighbor will regret locking himself out of paradise.
Stand back and let's create something cool ๐
I get why this bothers you.
That kind of wall changes the feeling of a space overnightโฆ itโs not just a fence, itโs how you experience coming home.
Right now it feels like a corridor because itโs flat, hard, and closed in.
But hereโs the part most people donโt realize:
That same fence can become the backbone of something alive.
Iโve actually built systems like this-using the wall as structure instead of fighting it.
You donโt need to lose driveway space.
You can run a narrow edge system along both sides:
small stone borders (just inches wide)
vertical trellis or cable lines on the fence
micro planting pockets instead of big beds
Then let it climb and layer:
Climbers / canopy
grapes (shade + food)
passionflower (medicinal + pollinators)
climbing roses (structure + beauty)
Edge plants (low footprint)
thyme, oregano, basil
lavender, sage, echinacea
calendula, yarrow
That alone softens the entire wall.
Then you add water-this is where it really changes.
At the top of the drive:
install a rain barrel from your gutter system
From there you can create:
a controlled circulation line (drip or narrow rill)
optional misting lines along the trellis (cooling + humidity)
water feeding each plant pocket instead of running off
And if you want to take it further:
At the end of the driveway, inside your yard:
build a small pond or basin
let all that captured water move toward it
recirculate with a small pump
Now itโs not just landscapingโฆ
itโs a living system: water โ plants โ pollinators โ cooling โ back to water
Add a light overhead canopy (arched conduit or cable):
vines grow across
creates a soft โgreen ceilingโ without blocking the drive
And suddenly:
Youโre not pulling into a corridor anymore.
Youโre moving through a living entrance-flowers, food, scent, shade, hummingbirds, beesโฆ all supported by water you captured instead of wasted.
Walls feel oppressive when theyโre dead.
Once theyโre covered in life, they disappear.
It doesnโt have to stay like this.
You can turn it into something better than what was there before.
And if you build it rightโฆ
your neighbor might end up regretting theyโre on the wrong side of the fence looking in at your Eden ๐ฟ

@jtmwrites @Sowerbutt kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topโฆ If you're not already enrolled in Amazon KDP, that's where a lot of information lives, and even if you don't want to use KDP for publishing, it's still useful info. I also use Draft2Digital but format using KDP guidelines. D2D submits to lots of outlets.

Okay. Another question for self-published authors: how did you do it? I mean, what was your process? Or did you use a company that does the โback endโ work? Just curious.

@jtmwrites @Sowerbutt Iโll see if I still have a link- it was a decade ago but they had various sizes of layouts. Give me a few hours and remind me if I forget. Working on a report right now that might take me another hour or so.

Did you see a bright object to the right of moon? It wasn't a star or the planet Venus (sorry ChatGPT), it was the planet #Mercury The Mercury #occultation with the "crescent moon" was tonight. Here's a time-lapse of Mercury grazing the eastern edge of the 3% illuminated moon.

@ahfultz @Z0ne6srt @zachariaspro Thatโs my only option, so Iโm working with it and hoping for the best. ๐ค

@PersTransient @ahfultz @golgoonza @flints_Tiddle @brother12121 @MorKattens If thereโs nothing that can be done to change the situation and there isnโt much I can to to survive the aftermath, might as well just carry on ๐คทโโ๏ธ The people Iโve shared the info with just think Iโm crazy, but they have no escape either so probably just as well.
English

@ahfultz @golgoonza @flints_Tiddle @brother12121 @MorKattens It does somewhat bother me that TES, Ben, etc at the moment seem to be acting like business as usual and have no urgency or care for this.
