I think part 2 was about letting go of relationships that hurt you, even if youre afraid to be alone.
Pochita loved Denji enough to realize he was the thing keeping Denji was being truly happy. Denji can make his own happiness. Everyone who grows up eventually loses their dog.

I love this panel.
