"Woe to the world because of stumbling blocks! ... Woe to the one through whom they come!" He said it was better to pluck out your own eye than to cause someone to stumble. "If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off... And if your eye causes you to stumble, tear it out..." The story of creation became a stumbling block and should have been torn out. My greatest disappointment as a Christian is to see other Christians insisting on beliefs that have nothing to do with the core message of Jesus. They love stumbling blocks more than they love God.

This is profoundly delusional. There is no intelligence in a regression. Human intelligence is causal, not statistical. Statistical regressions only provide shallow approximations of the things they have regressed, and do so at the expense of so much brute force, it can only really be considered anti-intelligence (throw shit at the wall and see what sticks. If nothing sticks, keep throwing). A human can learn to do something after seeing it only once. There are no statistics for a single datapoint. And that is hard to beat with statistical brute force. The brute force also relies completely on the data it was trained on. It steals the intellectual property that experts have shared with other humans as a social good, and sells it. The only rational end game for this activity is either the destruction of the thieves or destruction of the social good. If the thieves win, the internet will transition from a social place to share information, to a siloed and paywalled space, where all of the good stuff is locked in vaults and slop runs in the streets. If the thieves win, the open internet dies. This is what Alex Karp was screeching about on CNBC, and he’s actually not wrong. AI is only extractive. AI is actively destroying the internet, not supplementing it. I hope they lose but they currently have all the money and all the power to force their will on the rest of us. The ones who made the internet such a valuable store of information in the first place. Fuck Chamath and fuck Andreesen.
