I’m not on any side I don’t support Russia I also don’t really give a fuck about Ukraine that much, I am a western person and I want the west to succeed and that does mean containing Russia to some extent and out manoeuvring them geopolitically I am Catholic and simply find this level of hatred for strangers and glee at their brutal deaths and humiliation disturbing, you’re painting some random person as a child rapist without knowing anything about them to justify the fact you like watching people die, well adjusted people don’t like watching people die, even bad people or those they dislike

two things that “radicalized” me about this useless stupid war: 1) these videos are often posted with masturbatory glee 2) the victims are always uniformed but very often unarmed and without helmets… almost like they’re PoWs who have been released and hunted on video for sport

Masahiro Shinoda explains why it was impossible for the Jesuits to impose their religion in Japan: "Interviewer: Is 'Silence' (1971) critical of the very fact of the Catholics coming to Japan and imposing an alien culture on the Japanese? Shinoda: Japan is an island surrounded by the sea. Many cultures from outside have come here. Japan could not refuse them. The sea current itself conveyed these foreigners to Japan’s southern shores. Then Christianity came, but by this time the native animism of Shinto and Buddhism were already coexisting in harmony. I think that there was no room for an additional religion. All Eastern religions are in accordance with a belief in the oneness of man and nature, whereas Christianity deals with the relationship between one man and another. When movies, or film culture, were introduced into Japan they were already based on modern Western thought. But Japanese culture influenced the kind of films that would be made here, despite the Western origins of the cinema. I must categorize the films of the world into three distinct types. European films are based upon human psychology, American films upon action and the struggles of human beings, and Japanese films upon circumstance." Life is hierarchical

Even speaking of God as someone you place moral character judgements on is philosophically incoherent. The whole critique is philosophically incoherent because with the christian conception of God once you prove his existence the other things we ascribe of God like being good, loving, all powerful, all knowing etc all flow from his very nature by necessity. This is why I don’t tend to take a lot of atheists seriously, they are so ignorant of the thing they are talking about, which is fine if you’re not going to talk about it but they make it their mission to insert themselves into these conversations

Wdym “they originally thought before we made it to the sky” You think the christian theological conception of God was literally that he’s a big man in the sky and we didn’t change this until after airplanes? You can go and read christian theological texts from the early church and the medieval period that are extremely clear that God is not an anthropomorphic being like Zeus who is physically located somewhere. There’s nothing to engage with what you’re saying, going around saying “God is a bad guy” doesn’t even make sense conceptually regarding the being we are talking about. If God exists then necessarily he is goodness itself, and has no imperfections. It’s literally not possible because that would contradict God’s nature as self subsistent being, since evil comes from a deficiency in being, it has no positive existence on it’s own
