perspective on how horrible the film/tv industry is You can be requested for a potential job to hold 7 days a week out like I did, work to get my other job covered, and then 24 hrs beforehand the producer can just drop you and you have no recourse and 2 grand goes up in smoke

It’s become clear that regardless of DSA internal procedure, DSA must endorse AOC, and the longer we wait, the more the moment will escape us. Read the latest from me and @Mike_from_PA here and watch Mike read it right now on steam below: twitch.tv/central_commit…
Geese Magazine🪿@geesemagazine

On Sunday, DSA's National Political Committee voted down an all-member poll on presidential endorsement, routing the decision through chapter deliberation and potentially delaying it until the August 2027 convention, all while AOC is expected to declare in early 2027. J. Ryder (@harbingerofwoke) & Mike From PA (@Mike_from_PA) argue that DSA must seize the greatest opportunity to advance socialism in a century. Raising the question: what does democracy look like? Amazing admission from Matt Yglesias - politics shouldn't try to shift public opinion. He fundamentally does not understand what politics is. This is why DNC politicians and media allies offer no political vision — they don't think you should have one!

It’s great this faction continues to pursue toxic advocacy for policy no Americans support Every intelligent mutual I know who is pro or ambivalent on data centers knows to keep it quiet and if they voice it they’re certainly not running for office of any kind
Jeremiah Johnson 🌐@JeremiahDJohns

Data centers seem like one of those cursed topics where the obviously correct policy and the obviously correct political strategy are just completely at odds

On screen, Sam Neill was that rare blend of sophisticated gentleman and raging weirdo. It’s why he so effortlessly switched between the genre, blockbuster, and indie space. People will name quite a few of his movies to watch: I’d throw a bone to SLEEPING DOGS, his breakthrough.

I get being turned off by DSA infighting on Twitter but sometimes ppl say “DSA should be like PSL and not litigate things publicly” and there’s no real way to make that happen without adopting all the other things that make PSL PSL.

DSA paper members would spontaneously generate a better politics than "15 people in MUG should write a new constitution and get the public to sign off on it."

@KraushTakes I don’t think this really would count as a split nor should we be using that rhetoric

Regardless of saber rattling, the soft split risk w/r/t AOC isn't Grace & Gustavo making a decision to break off NYC-DSA but large portions of the org supporting the campaign independently of national inside or outside of DSA DSA missing the moment is *inherently* existential.

I think people are understandably frustrated that there was a proposal for a clear, simple, speedy measure of our whole membership’s opinion on endorsing AOC, and instead we’re getting something slower, inconsistent, and which will reduce the number of members consulted. Given that this seems facially worse than the alternative, people naturally ask “well, why would people choose this?” And because everyone seems to agree that this process will yield a less-positive result in favor of endorsing (vs a national poll), and also delay a possible endorsement until after AOC has announced (assuming she runs), it’s pretty straightforward to assume there’s an ideological motivation. Finally, people really dislike when they feel that the process is being decided on with an eye towards influencing a specific outcome; process considerations should, ideally, be independent of any particular expected outcome. They should be selected on the basis of *general* characteristics that are desirable. Now, I’m sure people will contest parts of this narrative and that’s fine; but I think this *is* a very uncomplicated and plausible narrative and it’s evident why people are unhappy as a result of it imo
