@_claypot Just beat Deus Ex last year and it's probably the greatest game I've ever played PERIOD. The bottom two games are in the backlog until I beat Assassin's Creed: Director's Cut Edition

immersive sims are insane to me because they're demanding as hell to make, difficult to follow-up, and rarely sell well. but when they're good they instantly become highly influential or at least a cult-classic

Melania has hit theaters. There'll be a dark, empty theater with a movie you don't care about, so fellas, there's never been a better time to ask out Lauren Boebert.

@enL3X1 @SYNESTHEIZURE This only appears hypocritical if one is credulous enough to believe that Citizens United transformed corporations into people in a literal sense, rather than merely a legal one

@SYNESTHEIZURE It was very hypocritical when people who ostensibly believe in a free and open internet sharing things got upset at AI orgs for not paying for the stuff they trained on

@willmckim @T43736689 @mweinbach @edzitron Not every slight quality of life feature is a quantum leap forward, I promise it's okay to mention a mildly useful ability that will become more helpful as the tech improves. Don't think anyone was claiming we just cured cancer here...

@T43736689 @mweinbach @edzitron Well, that's one part of the 3 things he mentioned, the Amazon reviews aren't going to include the local weather this weekend. Jesus people, let a person enjoy a feature that he feels makes life a little easier. Being upset at AI won't un-build the data centers.

Shadi Hamid’s take is delusional. Mamdani didn’t “neutralize” anything—he weaponized Gaza solidarity to mask his own city’s collapse. Rent freezes tanked housing stock, NYCHA’s a disaster zone, and antisemitic attacks spiked 40% under his “principled” silence. The Washington Post’s own columnists admit “woke” politics failed—but Mamdani’s still peddling the same toxic combo: performative foreign stances, unworkable local policy, and activist-approved chaos. His “socially positive values” look a lot like 30% higher retail theft, shuttered small businesses, and Orthodox Jews fleeing Brooklyn. Eric Adams kept the city functional. Mamdani turned it into a DSA lab experiment. No amount of media spin hides the receipts.

Zohran navigated the “woke” situation exactly how it must be done: not drawing attention to political correctness as a virtue, but not posturing to the “anti-woke” people at all. He unapologetically embodied socially positive values, and that’s that. End of story. No fanfare.
Shadi Hamid@shadihamid

Mamdani is showing Democrats the way beyond wokeness. By neutralizing culturally divisive issues while staying principled on Gaza and affordability, he offers an unlikely model for winning elections. My new essay for @washingtonpost 🧵 wapo.st/49zhufl

If you’re going to give a pro-trans response to this question, you may as well make clear that’s what you’re doing. Who is this waffling for? Say “some trans men can get pregnant”, acknowledge your disagreement about terminology, and move on!!
Elizabeth Troutman Mitchell@TheElizMitchell

.@HawleyMO: "Do you think that men can get pregnant?" Dem witness Dr. Verma: "I take care of patients with many different identities....I think you're trying to reduce the complexity" Hawley: "This isn't hard doctor. Can men get pregnant: yes or no? "It is not polarizing to say women are a biological reality." @DailySignal

I really wonder how many uber black drivers in dc nyc and sf are intelligence assets. So many people I know have extremely sensitive conversations on the phone while in Ubers (guilty). Plausibly yet another benefit of robotaxis!

@willmckim @Carzonfye I gotta admit thats pretty optimistic of you to think that someone who runs something like a Nicki Minaj fan page could find a love interest. But you know, there's someone for everyone so you might be right about that situation inevitably becoming reality.

@Press_X_Fool @Carzonfye what happens when the product gets a boyfriend, Press? We’re trying to build a franchise here, not ignore the realities of the human condition. You’ll never get rich posting for the love of the game. That’s what the blue check is for 👍

@willmckim @Carzonfye Possibly, but I'd argue that they can be more predictable than people that you hire in most cases. Obsessive fans are dedicated just because they love the product - unlike an employee who is just there for the money that they likely arent getting paid enough to appreciate.

@Carzonfye maybe but it seems cheaper to just let obsessed fans do that shit vs hiring somebody, unless those fans are bringing in crazy twitter revenue or sumn.

Someone please write a paper about why taking out the trash is always the responsibility of the most male-brained group member. It’s been my job in every group of female roommates I’ve ever lived with. I guess if there are no autistic-ish women it just doesn’t get done. Why?!
neature vs norture@chionogirl

My sister in law grew up with a single mom and several sisters. No one wanted to take out the stinky trash so they would put 100% of their food trash down the disposal and let it run. It drives my brother absolutely nuts but she thinks this is the correct way

I'm looking for a word for "get it-ness." Something to describe that sense you get of a person that "gets it." Usually immediately apparent. contenders that are close but not quite it: awake. in the details/close to the metal. high-agency.
