@AnaVargas050 @annaaacha Student athletes need to succeed in both their academic and athletic fields, and for Africa American students, it's true that more support is needed. The NCAA needs to dramatically increase the care and support they show its students. #UCR150 @annaaacha

African American college athletes are in need of much more academic support in order for them to reach success in both their athletic and academic careers. Altogether, institutions associated with the NCAA need to offer much more support and opportunities.#UCR150 @annaaacha

Student athletes are exceptional at what they do, but they lack the proper support. This is especially the case with African American students, who are exploited for their superb skill on the field, but ignored when it comes to their academic performances. #UCR150 @annaaacha

@AnaVargas050 @annaaacha The NCAA wants as much money as they can get, and it ultimately comes from student athletes basically running the show at the most direct level. The NCAA's lack of care and respect for their well-being is blatantly obvious and an unfair, exploitative crime. #UCR150 @annaaacha

Due to student athletes being viewed as money symbols by the NCAA it allows an understanding as to why they are held to such exhaustive high standards. The large sums of pressure placed upon them to succeed sways them to neglect other aspects of their lives.#UCR150 @annaaacha

Student athletes have a difficult enough university experience attempting to balance their athletic and academic lives simultaneously. The NCAA makes it harder by adding levels of exploitation and manipulation in their lives, limiting the decisions they make. #UCR150 @annaaacha

@AnaVargas050 @annaaacha The restrictions and limitations that are placed on student athletes are abundant even when requesting to transfer schools, reminding us that student athletes are unfairly manipulated and exploited at all times by the institutions that should care for them. #UCR150 @annaaacha

The NCAA continues to seek dominance and power on student athletes when they become a part of an institution, even when it comes to transferring. The 4-4 transfer restrictions are one of many obstacles that are set in place that strips their rights away.#UCR150 @annaaacha

Controlling student athletes seems to always be the main focus of the NCAA, placing limitations on their ability to make decisions freely. This applies when athletes want to transfer to a different school; the 4-4 transfer rules make it undesirable to do so. #UCR150 @annaaacha

@AnaVargas050 @annaaacha Head related injuries are most critical and terrifying because of the long lasting effects they have on an athlete. Trauma to the head can cause immediate effects, as well as future, serious problems; the NCAA needs to prioritize the urgency of such situations. #UCR150 @annaaacha

Trauma induced to the head is a serious medical concern that must be reported in sports. The matter in which they occur is critical to not cause any severe health issues. The team in which athletes partake in must make it a top priority for their safety. #UCR150 @annaaacha

Student athletes are viewed merely as pawns in a game of monetary gain for the NCAA, and are given little care for their health when it comes to pain and injuries. The NCAA needs to show more responsibility when it comes to keeping their athletes safe/healthy. #UCR150 @annaaacha

Discrimination based on sex is unlawful and prohibited thanks to the efforts that laws, such as Title IX, provide when it comes to women’s sports. However, a lack of appreciation and progression for these athletes is shown despite the publicity they bring in. #UCR150 @annaaacha

@AnaVargas050 @annaaacha I agree completely, the National Letter of Intent seems like a good contract on paper, but when you begin to realize that it benefits and protects the school primarily, it becomes apparent that it doesn’t really have its student athletes well-being at heart. #UCR150 @annaaacha

The National Letter of Intent presents itself to student athletes as a promise of opportunities and excitement, when in reality they are binding themselves to a corporation/institution that views them as monetary gain and physical ponds to their selected sport.#UCR150 @annaaacha

The NCAA has an obvious advantage over its student athletes due to the power imbalance present; this creates an exploitative environment in intercollegiate athletics that leaves its players as commodities that have no rights. #UCR150 @annaaacha

@AnaVargas050 @annaaacha With all the jurisdiction that the NCAA has over it’s competition sports, tournaments, and especially student-athlete, it is ridiculous that no support is provided towards its players and their justifiable basic needs and requirements. #UCR150 @annaaacha

While the NCAA and other leading organizations controlling college athletics are deemed as having monopoly power and view students as ponds. It is astonishing to see how they use “amateurism” as a scapegoat to deprive students of compensation.#UCR150 @annaaacha

Student athletes lack the proper support/compensation they deserve when it comes to the effort put in their sport. An idea to help counter the terrible NCAA definition of amateurism is an increase in athletic scholarships, which could help financial situations. #UCR150 @annaaacha

@AnaVargas050 @annaaacha It's true that student athletes suffer unjust treatment by the NCAA. Receiving no compensation for the work they put in to their sport is ridiculous when they are the reason the NCAA is so successful; without them, their is no show to run, and no NCAA. #UCR150 @annaaacha

The mistreatment towards student-athletes by the NCAA is undeniable. This is seen through the constant profit the institutions generate off of the student yet no compensation/appraisal is reciprocated to those who help them gain the large sums of money. #ucr150 @annaaacha

Despite the countless hours of dedication to their sport, and the engagement/revenue they bring in for their schools, student athletes unjustly receive no compensation from their academic institutions or the organizations they're governed by. How is this fair? #UCR150 @annaaacha

@AnaVargas050 @abhornUCRedu You're right, white students are being prioritized even though "neutral" policies are in play and it's been overlooked for too long. Racism in educational settings is being ignored because of the newer ways it's presenting itself, unjust to ethnic groups. #UCR50horn @abhornUCRedu

White student athletes continue to be prioritized over those of color in the spectacle of large institutions, yet overlooked. Seemingly, racism continues in educational/professional settings but has merely become more sophisticated.#UCR50horn @abhornUCRedu

Racial consciousness isn't considered during the admission process to avoid prejudice; still, neutral policies in the education system continue helping white students over ethnic groups. Racism in educational settings is still very much prevalent today. #UCR50horn @abhornUCRedu

It’s evident that the revitalization of diversity in intercollegiate athletics/its importance among student athletes should be a big focus now and always. Diversity amongst student athletes builds strong relationships with insight into their peers’ lives. #UCR50horn @abhornUCRedu

@AnaVargas050 @abhornUCRedu Your last sentence pretty much sums up what IAC is! Large amounts of funding is provided to programs that bring in the most amount of traction for the school, which are usually athletic programs. Student athletes still suffer from high expectations though.#UCR50horn @abhornUCRedu

Organizational climate is defined by standards, rules, and stagnant behavior. It is the environment individuals reside in. In intercollegiate athletics revenue impacts climate. Thus, organizations only care for the sports that supply large sums of revenue.#UCR50horn @abhornUCRedu

Too many pressures are placed upon student athletes because of their school's obsession with athletic teams' success, like school records and commercialization. The IAC is a toxic and manipulative environment that leaves them drained and stressed. #UCR50horn @abhornUCRedu
