Microsoft may finally end forced Windows 11 updates with a new pause feature that gives you full control. Windows 11's Update Settings page is getting a new Calendar flyout that lets you choose a specific day to pause Windows updates until that day. Right now, you can only pause updates for up to five weeks, but now, you'll be able to pause updates for as long as you want. Microsoft previously said receiving updates should be predictable and easy to plan around, so it's giving you more control. "This includes the ability to skip updates during device setup to get to the desktop faster, restart or shut down without installing updates and pause updates for longer when needed," the company said in a statement last month.

If you love my reporting, please consider making me your preferred source on Google: google.com/preferences/so… the internet is dominated by large media houses, which makes it impossible for independent creators like me to be found on Google. if you make me your preferred source, you see more of my reporting on Google (hopefully). thank you!

In the case of Windows 11's Snipping Tool, Microsoft has removed the Copilot/AI button completely. It's a big win 🥳

Breaking: Microsoft quietly removes Copilot branding from Notepad and Snipping Tool on Windows 11. Microsoft appears to be doing exactly what it promised after the Windows quality reset. Notepad has now removed Copilot branding and replaced it with a simpler “Writing tools” icon, while Snipping Tool no longer seems to show the Copilot button. AI is still there, but Microsoft is clearly stepping back from plastering Copilot branding across Windows 11. Honestly, this is probably the smarter move, as users were tired of seeing Copilot branding.

Microsoft has allegedly suspended Windows developer accounts with no warning. This issue affects popular tools like VeraCrypt, WireGuard, WindScribe, and others. Thankfully, Microsoft is now aware, and it's actively investigating the root cause.

@WindowsLatest MSFT was aware months ago, just did nothing until it hit the media cycle. x.com/windscribecom/…

It appears @Microsoft is actively suspending developer accounts with no warning or reason of various security tools like VeraCrypt, WireGuard and also Windscribe. We've had this VERIFIED account for 8+ years to sign our drivers. We've been trying to resolve this for over a month, and getting nowhere. Support is non-existent. Anyone know a human with a brain that still works at Microsoft and can help?

Microsoft has also confirmed that it's truly invested in the design of Windows 11. That means it's taking care of the little details because every detail matters. "We're really focusing on design craft in Windows at the moment," Microsoft's lead designer said. "There is still lots to do but this is the kind of work I love seeing ship: Settings pages redesigned for clarity, account dialogs updated for dark mode, Narrator working with Copilot on all devices." It's all part of the company's efforts to make Windows a better operating system, and this time, it's really not just words. Microsoft is cooking, and I'm pumped! How do you want Microsoft to improve Windows Settings?

Microsoft explains why it still can’t fully kill Control Panel in Windows 11. According to the company’s design lead, the reason is simple: Windows still has to support a huge mix of older network devices, printer drivers, and legacy hardware that could break if Microsoft gets too aggressive. That is why Control Panel continues to survive even as Settings expands. In other words, Microsoft does want Windows 11 Settings to replace more of the old experience, but it also knows that millions of users still depend on the deeper controls and compatibility that the 40-year-old Control Panel provides. Do you prefer Control Panel over Windows Settings?

There’s another new Copilot app for Windows 11, and it literally ships with a private copy/fork of Microsoft Edge. Under the hood, Microsoft appears to be bundling a full private copy of Edge with the new web-based Copilot, which helps explain why the app can feel heavier on system resources. In my testing, Copilot RAM usage even climbed close to 1GB at times. Microsoft has clearly moved away from the older native-style Copilot approach and is now leaning harder into web tech for its AI experience on Windows.

Windows dominates Steam with 92.33% share, but Linux just crossed 5% in the latest Steam Hardware Survey, landing at 5.33% in March. That’s a big jump from 2.23% in February, but the trend isn’t exactly steady. It was 3.38% in January, 3.58% in December, and 3.20% in November, so this spike could be temporary rather than a clear shift. Linux remains far ahead of macOS. Linux is gaining attention, but it’s too early to call it a real challenge to Windows just yet.

Okay, here's a crazy Windows 11 bug... I connected to Bluetooth on Windows 11, and the volume keeps jumping from 50 to 100 on its own, and every time I try to bring it down, it immediately forces itself back, like it’s fighting user input 😂 It’s funny at first, but this is exactly the kind of basic reliability issue that shouldn’t exist in Windows 11. It's not a hardware issue, as restarting Windows and repairing Bluetooth fixes it. Microsoft says 2026 will focus on fixing core Windows problems, and honestly, Bluetooth stability and audio controls need to be part of that push.

After all these years, you can finally move the taskbar in Windows 11! Microsoft is finally listening to our feedback. In fact, Microsoft has plans to upgrade dark mode across Windows 11, build modern UI for pop-ups/dialogs, and even shift the React-based Start menu to WinUI. Microsoft also plans to build 100% native apps for Windows 11 in 2026.

It's happening! Here's your first look at a movable taskbar in Windows 11, coming soon. You'll be able to move and resize the taskbar on Windows 11, just like you did on Windows 10! It's still in internal testing, and to be clear, this video is from a virtual machine, which is why it might feel slow. Also, Microsoft won't use the right-click menu we're seeing in the video; it's only being used to quickly debug the feature. What else do you want Microsoft to improve in Windows 11? 👇
