@hdsdi3g It's homemade software in constant development :) I've tried to make a simple UI for playing with FFT windowing and colour gradient settings to get the best spectral features visible.

@tanks404 Hi, is the scan with the optical audio track yours? Thank you so much, it's been really intriguing :) Do you happen to know where the physical film reel came from? If there is any notes or dates etc?

@windyoona @travisgoodspeed That's awesome context and makes perfect sense, was hoping for some kind of exploit catch but mic noise makes sense, I appreciate you taking the time to look at it. You are top of the SIGINT spectrum friend, happy new year to you!

@hackerfantastic @travisgoodspeed I wouldn't rule it out of course, especially given that news context. But just out of interest, the sound has a repeat every 640 samples. This would be a plausible audio buffer size. Also, a mic picking QRM that far away is odd; why get that close with so much tx power to spare

@hackerfantastic @travisgoodspeed Hi. If I had to guess, that is the sound of a microphone read buffer being not refreshed due to a stuck audio driver, (i.e. recording glitch). It's followed by the sound of the tires. I can't see the cyclist taking his hands off the handlebars to operate any device when it sounds

@tekkoooo Hi, sounds like a cool project. I unfortunately don't have so much spare time these days, but hit me up in dm with the details if you wish.

@windyoona Hey, you think you could help me with implementation of real-time voice inversion descrambler for Teensy 4.1? 😎 I've already made some research. I'm @tekk on GitHub.

Has anyone ever tried playing the rings of Saturn as if they were a vinyl record?

@luigifcruz Notes app on my phone. I rarely scroll up :) On a serious note, I find making a Trello board and adding a few basic first steps increases my chances of starting (and finishing) a project. Provided that I remember to go back to Trello.

How do y’all deal with project ideas? Write them somewhere and let them rot? Start immediately and then let it rot? Let me know!

SDR-based PAL decoder is still black & white, but after a notch filter on the audio the picture quality is getting a lot better.

@natevw Yes, the picture and sound are offset on the film - it seemed to range from 18 to 26 frames depending on the type of film.

@j_ptrsn Oh interesting, I’ve been looking into this too. Didn’t know some projectors did that.

@windyoona Ah got it! The crazy LCD analogy is that motion sharpness is actually greater if you take the pixels down to #000000 and back again, than if you transition directly, but I still perceive and think of it as a shutter of sorts.
