Found this article and blog by @windyoona and I am so extremely delighted
I’ve been wondering about the dialup for a long time and this was explained in the best way here

@windyoona @travisgoodspeed That's awesome context and makes perfect sense, was hoping for some kind of exploit catch but mic noise makes sense, I appreciate you taking the time to look at it. You are top of the SIGINT spectrum friend, happy new year to you!

@hackerfantastic @travisgoodspeed (But even if it was a buffer glitch, that doesn't rule out EMI as the cause)
English

@hackerfantastic @travisgoodspeed I wouldn't rule it out of course, especially given that news context. But just out of interest, the sound has a repeat every 640 samples. This would be a plausible audio buffer size. Also, a mic picking QRM that far away is odd; why get that close with so much tx power to spare
English

@hackerfantastic @travisgoodspeed Hi. If I had to guess, that is the sound of a microphone read buffer being not refreshed due to a stuck audio driver, (i.e. recording glitch). It's followed by the sound of the tires. I can't see the cyclist taking his hands off the handlebars to operate any device when it sounds

@windyoona Hey, you think you could help me with implementation of real-time voice inversion descrambler for Teensy 4.1? 😎 I've already made some research. I'm @tekk on GitHub.

@luigifcruz Notes app on my phone. I rarely scroll up :)
On a serious note, I find making a Trello board and adding a few basic first steps increases my chances of starting (and finishing) a project. Provided that I remember to go back to Trello.

@windyoona I am still getting a bit of luma into chroma, but it looks like the trick is working (using the IQ from sigidwiki.com/wiki/PAL_Broad…).

@windyoona so I suspect then that en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound-on-… must be *offset* from the associated picture frames so that it can be played steadily farther ahead or behind of the projector? (or perhaps read ahead of the mechanism and then that audio signal is delayed until the frame is shown?)

@windyoona Ah got it!
The crazy LCD analogy is that motion sharpness is actually greater if you take the pixels down to #000000 and back again, than if you transition directly, but I still perceive and think of it as a shutter of sorts.
