do not let access stop you. when you want to learn something there's always a way injection molding specifically: - AIM Institute has injection molding foundation programs for >$1k in 9 cities - The Manufactory in Cincinnati has injection molding + cnc, welding, vacuum forming, etc for $150/mo - Protohaven in Pittsburgh has plastics, machining, welding, and textiles tools for ~$100/mo - MakeHaven in New Haven has a crazy set of tools and an injection molder with 20 tons of clamp force for $62/month - mHUB in Chicago has a dedicated plastics lab with injection molding, line bending, and a uv ink printer for $450/mo - Humanmade in San Francisco is a community prototyping and manufacturing studio with a wood shop, metal shop, electronics, and classes for $250/mo that offers scholarships and a free access startup program free in the bay area: - ccsf tuition is free if you're a resident, with night classes on welding, machining, plastics, and open shop access - noisebridge has free access to a beautiful shop of metal and wood lathes and cncs, hand tools, and electronics benches elsewhere: - Fab Labs is an open network of local fabrication labs. cncs / laser cutters / 3d printing access in 160 countries i learned how to use a cnc by emailing a much better funded high school than mine's shop teacher over and over until he responded. people want to teach you
