@0x44_ Are your angles stored as half-degrees or something?

This is a unit circle (r = 128px) drawn using my own math library in C. It uses no division, no modulo, and no floating points. It uses a binary angle lookup table for SIN and COS, totaling 256 Bytes plus the few bytes for a couple instructions (accessing it, a bitwise &, and couple shifts.) It scales well by either doubling or halving the table size repeatedly, and if I need more accuracy in a pinch, I can linearly interpolate 2 angles. It also has 512 angles instead of 360. This shines on older hardware, like the PS1, where it can fit in the cache (aka the scratchpad), but its footprint is small enough to be negligible on modern hardware while giving me the added bonus of keeping my compiler simpler, more lightweight, and free of dependencies and potential bloat. If this excites you, congrats. There's not many of us it feels like.

@zuhaitz_dev Even with these tools, C programmers will still routinely, unknowingly run into UB. At some point, C programmers have to let their ego on the matter of just getting good drop and understand that even the best C programmers with this tooling still routinely have UB in their code.

@zuhaitz_dev Undefined behaviour is inherently unsafe and therefore harmful. It’s time to stop trying to dodge 50 years of landmines and bad design to achieve basic things. Most C and C++ programmers step on hundreds of landmines every day without even knowing it.

If you map those amplitudes to a range of colours, and then swept that line of colours-as-amplitudes at each frequency along a time axis, you get a spectrogram.

NTSB doesn't release cockpit voice recorders from crashes, except in this case they've released an image of a spectrogram. I'm not sure that's a good idea since you can probably reconstruct a lot of audio from the megabytes of data encoded in this image.
