Why are people are so concerned about AI gaslighting us, when humans do it everyday to each other, it is as common as a greeting. Discernment is something that should be standard, and you can't brute force transparency into a model, because the human's fingerprint is always there

An alternative solution to age verification on social media. (Out of the box and from first principles) As viewers are the main source of revenue for these companies. Or, to put it another way, viewers are doing the job that generates profit for the companies by giving away their time and attention. The solution is simple: enforce minimum wage where it actually belongs. And for viewers spending more than 40 hours week, companies should pay overtime and provide health insurance. Corporations should not be allowed to exploit oblivious people. Lol. Bonus: require work permission.

This is crazy. Technological innovation ever stops, it only advances. America needs to be the leader in AI. This proposal would not just hurt America economically, it would weaken our national security. @RichardMCNgo We do have a significant number of humans who aren't smart enough to successfully plan their own economy. Personally aligned AI will be able to help each user with that, improving the global economy and society as a side effect.

It’s helpful to think of rationalists as High Modernists specifically about the future.
No human was smart enough to successfully plan an economy or a society. But if we hypothesize an AI intelligent enough to do so, we can hold on to many of the same technocratic intuitions.

Almost no workers in the US make the federal minimum wage. It doesn’t matter. We functionally don’t have a federal minimum wage, and *shockingly* market forces have driven wages up on their own without it.

The minimum wage in Pennsylvania is $7.25 an hour. A regular Auntie Anne’s soft pretzel at the mall is $7.29. Imagine telling someone an hour of their time is worth less than a pretzel.
