This landowner blocked a public footpath with barbed wire fencing. 😡There’s no way to get to this path now. I’m not sure when this happened but it must be relatively recent because I’ve run this way many times before. Isn’t this illegal??

When you think about an industry of the future that can be created easily, has a wide range of different uses, and makes a positive contribution in the drive towards net zero, seaweed farming wouldn’t be the first thing to be mentioned by many people. Yet, a recent report shows: 🌊 Nearly 36 billion metric tonnes of seaweed is being produced annually with a value of £10.4 billion. 💉As well being used to create food, animal feed and fertilisers, its unique compounds have led to a multitude of applications within high value markets, from pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals to cosmeceuticals and advanced medical devices. 🌲Seaweed improves water quality by extracting harmful nutrients such as nitrogen from the sea, produces 70% more oxygen than land plants and, critically, absorbs CO2 more effectively than trees. 💨Seaweed farming globally could absorb up 239 million tonnes of carbon dioxide by 2050 which could provide income via carbon credits to local communities. Therefore, seaweed farming has so much potential and there are real opportunities to create a sustainable and competitive industry that could create jobs and prosperity in coastal areas which badly need economic regeneration.
