Berlioz worked on the orchestration in the weeks following "les trois glorieuses" - the July revolution of 1830 when he was still a student at the Conservatoire trying to finish his graduation piece - an opera called Sardanapaule. (Delacroix ultra-violent painting). Marseillaise had been practically banned by Napoleon and Restoration. Rouget de l'Isle - then infirm and impoverished wrote to B thanking him for its grand revival. It HAS to inspire Mbappe et al to a great victory today.

@daveweigel I think this speaks to the failure of Dems, Peters and Biden to highlight the massive legislative successes they had while Joe was in office. He saved 3 million lives, 16 million jobs, 17 milion new businesses, judges, great healthcare and green bills. Nobody talked about it.

One thing Bernie's influence in primaries this year: In 2018, he was seen (correctly) as a 2020 prez candidate, and campaigning with him aligned an endorsee with that. Now he's just an extremely popular pol who won the "why we lost 2024" argument among Dem voters.
