At my last job, they were looking for a senior React Native + Rust dev with 5 years of professional experience I had never developed in React Native. I'd never touched Rust before. Completely underqualified. The only reason why I got an interview is because I met and talked to one of the company's employees in-person. Despite being a junior with less than a year of professional experience (I had just turned 18), I was hired full-time. I was thrown into the deep end. I went from making small web PRs to diving into the React Native codebase. I didn't really touch the Rust code but I read a lot of it. By the time tech layoffs hit, I was the second-to-top contributor of all time (despite writing 95% of my code by hand) and had helped to lead the development of countless major projects. --- Unlike what they say nowadays, you don't need to lie on your resume. Just send it in. What you really need is someone who is willing to invest in you, who can get you past the recruiters. The best way to do that is to meet up with people and talk to them in-person. If I hadn't gone to that in-person tech conference three years ago, I wouldn't have had that job. --- Despite having done frontend/mobile for my whole career, I'm currently interviewing for a few roles that I'm completely underqualified for, including a Senior DevOps role that requires prior experience. Deja Vu. I talked to someone at a tech conference. They connected me to someone who got me past the recruiters. Removing the middle man and the barriers between you and the job market is that easy. Go forth, my unemployed brothers; meet people, talk to people, and show them what you're capable of.

this is what the company that paid me $3500/month (fully remote) asked me when I was in college - are you good at Java? have you built any mobile apps with RN and TS? are you willing to work with other languages? what’s your availability? what’s your salary expectation?
Dmitrii Kovanikov@ChShersh

My SWE interview for a company that paid £4500/year: “Prove that push_back() in std::vector works in O(1)” “Design a Java RTTI system with minimal overhead per object” My SWE interview for a company that paid £250000/year: “Remove the minimum number of parentheses to make a valid parentheses sequence”

@shivam_live unless your father kills people over minor disagreements, he’s more supportive than my father. I won’t explain further.

I feel like the main problem with Indians being so weak against their leaders is that majority of them were forced to live like slaves and stripped off their individuality for most part of medieval to modern history. even in ancient times, most of them were assigned some duties at birth and were never allowed to think for themselves. they can’t stop themselves from worshipping their leaders. it’s seen in other countries too (like the MAGA cult in the US) but it’s much more prevalent in India, specially among poor Indians. they happily worship those who treat them like animals. talking to them makes me feel like they have no brain or consciousness of their own. I don’t even how it’s possible to fix them without force. such a blackpill for someone who tries his best to love his country!

fuck those parents. why don’t all these grown “children” take a stance for them now that they’re “grown”? if you love your parents, you need to stop listening to their obsolete opinions and find your own path, otherwise your life will be full of regret and resentment. I speak this from personal experience. everyone who knows my father fears him, but I chose to stand up for myself. when I was 17-18, I told him that I would live my life on my own terms. told my mother the same. they didn’t appreciate it and call me “selfish”, etc… but stopped interfering with my life. I retired them within a year or two. now they’re happy and proud of me. my father and I still have some differences, but I’ve managed my family’s expenses since I was 18-19, so he also understands that I’m responsible. my parents now advise their friends to give their kids more freedom instead of binding them in the cage of “obedience”. as I always say, it’s always easy to complain and blame others, but the wise choice is to take extreme responsibility of everything and follow your heart.

Indian parents failed in providing a safe space to their children. Most of the children who are even in their twenties, fear telling everything to their parents. wether they want to talk about a girl/boy or they want to tell them that they want to run a business or peruse a different career or whatsoever Majority of the children can’t talk to their parents without any fear And then those parents say that you don’t talk to us because whenever their children wanted to talk, all they did was either taunt them or scold them about something
