Anyone who thinks romance novels have unrealistic plots should know that I’m 27 years old. I have no money and no prospects. I’m already a burden to my parents. And I’m frightened.

@serpenteskin I’ll be curious if they adapt the dream sequence! JT has some interesting things to say abt parts of S1 being filmed like they are dreams (I think of club sequence as dreamlike personally). so much of TLG is internal and miscommunication so I’m excited to see the adaptation

rewatching the cottage episode and thinking abt it’s emotional resonance and catharsis, and also abt how we probably aren’t going to get a S2 episode with that tonal structure throughout the whole thing. that episode is like crack okay. the most beautiful falling action ever.

@pipachel I know a number of ppl in translation who do too 😞😔. Translators were some of the first to deal w LLMs/ML & there are probably ways to use DeepL w/o using the genAI aspects of it but it’s very much integrating genAI into their translation modeling & becoming unavoidable.

@serpenteskin yes exactly. A beautiful storytelling decision. I’m not ready for the punches to the gut that s2 will necessitate. I know it’ll be good and they’ll kill it. But I’m fragile ok

@wolfbirbs S2 is going to stab us multiple times in the guts, watch us as we scramble to shove our intestines back, & then gut us again w/love re:wedding scene The cottage episode was such a kind, beautiful ending to S1 :,^) So nicely self-contained in case they didn't get s2

@the_chlorinator TLG is just so different tonally. The highs are high but for the most part always tinged with melancholy and always brief as far as I remember. nothing that stretches out like the cottage. It’s gonna be great but very different emotional ride I think. Excited but scared.

@wolfbirbs heartbroken knowing that even if season 2 is excellent(my hopes are high) it just won't be pure heroin from a storytelling standpoint like s1...😞

@moetext yes exactly, and also I think speaks to the distance they have to maintain due to their rivalry. their closeness is only ever known to them; to everyone else they are rivals and essentially strangers. but they are to see to it they do not lose each other 😭🥹

after posting my recent poem, i've had people ask me for other poetry that has hollanov vibes and i'm REALLY, REALLY tempted to say song of songs from the bible 💀

my meta was primarily about bird imagery in the books rather than bird sounds in the show, but it’s still just sitting with me. I love to listen to it. I love to imagine them hearing it. I’m still revising my meta but maybe I’ll share it someday.

there are lots of other bird sounds in the episode and not all the birds are loons of course, but it just stuck out to me that the editors made these very intentional choices to create a soundscape of bird song. I love birds so much.

took a brain and body break to finish my rewatch and did the cottage episode today. I keep thinking about all the bird calls throughout the whole episode. the first one is when they’re in the car during the title card. we keep hearing bird calls throughout the whole thing.

After a fight Shane goes to sleep on the couch. He wakes up in the middle of the night with Ilya on top of him, because sleeping seperately after a fight is absolutely not gonna happen in the Hollanov household. Smiling, Shane hugs his husband and goes back to sleep.
