There’s no team. Just a company. Funded by people with zero experience. Led by one with a terrible track record. That said a year ago it looked good and unstoppable. Few “pro” sports have been dealt as hard a blow by the pandemic than Rugby. The times exposed a lack of interest.

Talked to Ottawa Aces exec Eric Perez today. He says the plan is for the Aces is to play in BOTH the UK and North American rugby leagues. Don’t know how, don’t know why but I suspect that by 2022 it’ll be one or the other.

@therealsteavis @Shepardo35 If you've ever tried to buy tickets and/or merchandise/hospitality etc. You'd realise just how amateur it all is. The reality is, clubs are amateur in all but name, thus their obsession with pie and beer sales as opposed to the bigger, more affluent picture.

The #NARL division set up feels off. THE “Canada” division consisting of two teams? No need to get cute. Just put Toronto and Ottawa in the East or West division and carry on.

This is a big difference between UK and North American sports. Dramatics. A weeks long inquest into a loss that leaves fans in a dump? Shit it out, look ahead, plan accordingly and kill the “sky is falling” take. It’s sports.

@the_real_flea @genghiscampbell They are not playing in the NARL in 2022. They are playing in a “Canada Cup” under NARL in 2021 and will enter NARL competition along with the Wolfpack in 2022.
