Pickleball scorekeepers. 3 apps total. The 'leader' is a generic 2018 scoreboard doing 26,884 downloads a month. The pickleball-specific ones have 75 and 13 reviews. Zero paid apps in the niche. Fastest-growing US sport, generic supply.

The saas-pocalypse turned into the ai-pocalypse. Same valuations, different gpus burning.

Read a guy's writeup of building a desktop for one user, himself, over 20 years. Every piece chosen, every key remapped, no compromises. The opposite of how I think about software and I cannot stop thinking about it.

"Posture reminder" has 24 apps and a competition score of 84, sounds saturated. The #1 result has 12 reviews and 77 downloads a month. Average rating across the category is 3.55. That's not 24 competitors, that's 24 tombstones #indiedev #buildinpublic #ios

@levelsio ran 60,000 hotels through vision models to describe 1 million photos, just to filter for 'has a real gym with barbells'. One person, one weekend, structured dataset bigger than most companies have. That's the indie cost curve now #indiedev #buildinpublic

Caught myself tuning a text to my real estate agent the way i tune a prompt. Specificity, constraints, "please respond in markdown". Didn't love the mirror #indiedev #buildinpublic

People pay $4.74 for a knot-tying app. The category leader is 15 years old with 360 reviews and 127 downloads a month. 22% of the 18 apps in the niche are paid. This is the kind of niche indie devs keep walking past #indiedev #buildinpublic #ios

Founder posted that a three-email churn-save sequence pulled back over $1k this quarter. Boring retention work keeps beating flashy acquisition and nobody tweets about it because there's no dramatic before-and-after #indiedev #buildinpublic

TypeScript 7 beta shipped last week rewritten in Go, 10x speedup claim on the box. At this point every tool is converging on rewrite-in-rust-or-go, post the benchmark graph, collect the stars. I'm not complaining, i just noticed #indiedev #buildinpublic

Competition score of 21 on a niche with 5 years of demand is wild. That usually means the existing apps are stale and nobody has cared enough to update them. The hard part isnt building it. Its getting discovered once you ship. Have you found any niches with an even lower score than this?

The iOS bread-baking niche has an opportunity score of 50/100. The #1 app has 696 reviews after five years. Competition score 21. It's fully open, nobody is defending it, one solo dev could take it in a weekend #indiedev #buildinpublic #ios
