This story reminds me of a client whose husband sadly passed away just a few weeks after their wedding. She was with him in the hospital until he took his last breath. Shortly afterwards, she called me for legal guidance. My first question was, "Has anyone else been informed?" She said no. I immediately advised her to return home, gather all important legal documents relating to her husband's assets, and ensure they were kept in a safe place. I also advised her to preserve the assets from being tampered with pending the proper legal process. Thankfully, her husband owned four vehicles. She moved them to a secure location with the help of trusted persons and safely kept the title documents to two landed properties. That advice proved invaluable. Within a week of her husband's death, she was asked to leave the matrimonial home. A month later, her husband's nightclub had been sold. Unknown to those trying to take over his estate, the key documents and several assets had already been preserved, making it easier to protect her legal rights. The lesson is not that widows should fight their in-laws. The lesson is that they should act wisely and seek legal advice immediately after the death of a spouse. Grief is painful, but protecting the estate of the deceased is equally important. The law is better able to protect what has been preserved than what has already been dissipated.

Mr Man you don't understand how it works in battle for succession especially where it involves a widow. So please just read and pass in peace if you have nothing meaningful to contribute

HER HUSBAND DIED JUST 8 DAYS AGO. 💔 Tosin, 28 year old residing at No 8 Jumofak Igbo Oluwo Estate Koya Adeniran, Ikorodu Lagos, lost her legally married husband on 20th July, 2026. Instead of being allowed to grieve in peace, her world has been turned upside down by late husband family. Her father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and his wife left their house and moved into the home of her late husband and ordered the young widow to pack all her personal belongings, along with those of her two young sons, into just one room inside the house. To make matters worse, some of her late husband's properties have reportedly already been shared, while plans are underway to sell his car. This grieving widow is now living in fear for herself and her two children. She is appealing to the Lagos State Government, especially the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency @LagosDSVA to urgently intervene and protect her and her children from intimidation, unlawful dispossession, and any further actions that may deprive her children of their late father's inheritance. No widow should have to fight for dignity, shelter, and justice just days after losing her husband. Harrison Gwamnishu

I used to see people complain that money disappeared from their bank account without them initiating any transaction. Today, it’s my turn. ₦15,000 disappeared from my account. Dear bank, please return my money before you turn a customer into opposing counsel.

#UPDATE ON HARASSED WIDOW, TOSIN, IN IKORODU, LAGOS STATE The father-in-law was arrested in the early hours of today and is currently in police custody. OUR FIRST DEMAND: Move them out of the house so Tosin can mourn her late husband in peace. 🙌 Our client is the legally married wife of the deceased and has lawful rights over her late husband's estate. Any property illegally sold or taken by the father-in-law or any other person will be pursued and recovered through the law. There is NO SENTIMENT IN LAW. Justice must prevail, and the rights of the widow and her children must be protected. #ProjectProtectWidows Thanks to Lagos State Police Command and @LagosDSVA 🙌🙌 Harrison Gwamnishu

@Onyinye_Ok @wordsmans_ @HarrisonBbi18 Did you miss the part where the Bible says and two becomes one. I have a son too, but when my child gets married everything that belongs to him, automatically belongs to the wife not even his children except he made provision for that in his will.

Today, I formally requested an independent forensic audit of the 2026 NBA National Officers' Election and urged the relevant institutions to address the serious constitutional, procedural and technological concerns raised in my petition. This is bigger than any individual or election. It is about protecting the credibility of our Association and strengthening confidence in our democratic processes. I encourage colleagues to read the report and engage with its contents objectively. The integrity of the Bar must always come first. #NBA #Justice #Integrity #Leadership

@at_peace12 @HarrisonBbi18 Bro be mindful of your words, I gave her professional advice that I would also give to your sister if she is in the same situation. They are legally married and securing his inheritance was the first thing to do whether the marriage was 2 weeks old.

Many are hinging on the word "Few weeks" yes few weeks is a lot to decide the fate of a widow. From information report gathered he had an accident on his way from lagos, he was flown to the best Hospital in Abuja where fortunately he resides with his wife. So pls stay off with wrong insinuation as per the African mentality

BBNaija is back, and so are the hot takes, fan wars, and sleepless nights. 😂 But beyond the entertainment, there are legal lessons worth paying attention to. Every housemate signs binding contracts that regulate privacy, confidentiality, image rights, sponsorships, media appearances, and even what they can say after leaving the house. For viewers, remember: supporting your favourite housemate is your choice, but cyberbullying, defamation, threats, doxxing, or spreading false allegations in the name of "stanship" can expose you to civil or criminal liability. The biggest legal lesson from BBNaija is this: Entertainment ends where the law begins. Enjoy the show, but don't let fandom make you commit offences online. #BBNiaja #BBNaija

Messages like this are fundamentally flawed. God gave us brain to think so we could give him rest. Marriage is a contract not a bondage for life. You can't ask a partner to remain in a marriage which has broken down irretrievably and the other partner has become irresponsible. The Church lost Osinachi to messages like this. Please let's remain guided it is not a do or die affair

This has been my stance on Divorce as a Christian. I subscribe to separation and until it is fixed, you can choose not to go back. What you will not do is to re-marry, because according to the Bible, it is termed Adultery. Except if the reason was Sexual Immorality.

Whether you agree with homosexuality or not, one principle of law remains constant: no one has the right to take another person's life. In Nigeria, certain same-sex conduct is criminalised, but the punishment is not mob justice or murder. The Constitution protects every person's right to life, and only a court of competent jurisdiction can determine criminal liability. If someone is suspected of committing an offence, report it to the appropriate authorities. Assaulting or killing them is a separate and far more serious crime that can attract prosecution for murder. The rule of law means justice is delivered by the courts—not by the crowd.
