The dangerous thing about a society with low standards is that mediocrity starts calling itself wisdom, and anyone with pattern recognition gets labelled arrogant.

Students are already struggling under the pressure of UPSC. On top of that, some retired officers keep delivering unsolicited lectures as if every student’s life must revolve around this one exam. With due respect, before blaming aspirants or glorifying the service, shouldn’t they answer a few questions? 1) What meaningful change did your service bring on the ground? 2) Which broken system did you actually fix? 3) Whose life became better because of your decisions? 4) Did you remain honest when you had power? 5) Would you be comfortable with a public audit of your assets, files, postings and decisions? Respect for service is earned through impact, not nostalgia. Students will find their own path. Those who already had power should first explain what they did with it.

I have appeared for the UPSC Civil Services exam four times from 1993 to 1996 and was successful in the third and fourth attempts, though I passed the Prelims all the four times. The only lesson I learnt from the exam is that unless you take responsibility for your failures, you

@Kaushik_Borah__ @MKP2595 @i_SuryaPratap @CseWhy Common sense is so uncommon in this country. I regret every day paying 30%+ of my earnings to the government, only for it to go toward the welfare of people like these idiots.

Tbh, upsc shall make paper super easy Let people score 150-160. Keep the cutoff at 180, no issues But let the aspirants feel they are playing a fair game. What’s this game of asking random UN Peacekeeping years???

@MKP2595 @Kaushik_Borah__ @i_SuryaPratap @CseWhy Context awareness is a very rare skill. Your POV has been successfully invalidated. Thanks. I will not lower my standards further by engaging in any nonsense war on Twitter. I have learned my lesson.

@worldconflictTM @i_SuryaPratap @CseWhy You forgot to consider the probability that even if 1% unserious tukkebaaz get successful then they take up 1000 seats (considering there are 1 lakh unserious candidates, actually would be a few times more).

@worldconflictTM @i_SuryaPratap @CseWhy How has 80+ been normalised as cutoff? It used to be 110+ not too long ago. 80+ is in that range where unserious candidates can trump serious candidates by tukka. And there are 100 other problems with this stupid exam.
