Several freezers full of thousands of reasonably well documented bacterial strains and plasmids, accumulated over a research career - all heading for the autoclave on my retirement. I feel bad about this but what to do?

OK friends - I have a sabbatical year coming up ('24-'25). What should I do? I've never taken a real sabbatical. Frantically wrote grant renewals during 2, and produced F1 during 3rd. Remained on committees too. Empty nest so can actually go places and learn new things this time!

@wormraiser @Barr_lab @Hoosierflyman @Annika_Barber @wormbase The reason this twitter account is FlyBaseDotOrg is that flybase had been taken a few years earlier; belonged to fly fisherman, as I recall. Those fishing aficionados seem to have an affinity for MOD naming schemes.

And we figured it was easier to have a similar name to make it easier, a theme that is being implemented in the @alliancegenome .

uhhhhh…. wasn’t this just called the “discussion” section of any paper? beyond that, this seems like a great way for authors to make expansive claims and stake out positions to prevent scooping.
